I got a new monitor to replace my trusty 2010 monitor and have a question on resolutions. This monitor like the old is a 1080p 16:9 aspect ratio screen.
I notice in my Nvidia resolution settings there is an option to set the monitor to 1920X1080 under a "PC" section in the list and above there is an option for the same resolution but its under the heading of "Ultra HD, HD, SD". Under the that list it actually says (native) next to the resolution and allows me to go up to 60hz refresh rate.
However its only under the "PC" section when selecting 1920X1080 does it allow me to select 75hz which this monitor allows for. Why is this? Obviously both headings allow me to select this monitor's native resolution of 1920X1080 but for some reason its only under "PC" that it allows me to select 75hz. Why does the "Ultra HD, HD, SD" section only allow for 60hz? Why does the "PC" section not list (native) next to 1920X1080 and is the only area that allows me to set the monitor to 75hz?
Also, usually games have an option while selecting your resolution that also displays the refresh rate or even has a option in the settings to set your refresh rate. If a game does not have this option will the game just automatically detect and use what your current refresh rate is that is being used by the monitor? For example in Alien Isolation I only have an option to select the resolution. There is no refresh rate option nor does the resolution you select specify what refresh rates is being used.
Thanks for any info.
