Here are a few things I haven't been able to find through google or in the docs-

Is there a way to have "start in air" selected by default?

And, is there a way to "Abort" a mission if you die so it doesn't kill your pilot when exiting, or to restart the same mission?

Good questions!

I don't believe so, other than the checkbox before each mission.

I think you have to select "pilot never dies" in Workshops to avoid dying. However, there is a way to refly a mission with a "dead" pilot, if you use JJJ's Mission Editor. When you use the Mission Editor, it automatically saves your settings from the previous mission, so you can "resurrect" a deceased pilot. Download the ME and look over the readme file for more details.

Good luck!

Thanks!

I do like the permadeath risk aspect of the game, but several times I've "died" due to crashes or issues in the game that weren't skill-related... so I don't want to entirely disable the ability to die just to fix those instances. That editor sounds like just what I wanted for these cases.

I just looked up the mission editor and it brought me here:

It seems that the latest version is from 2020 and is for WOFF UE, not the latest iteration of the game? Does the file linked to from that first post with with the latest version of the game?

It looks like that thread doesn't include a link to the latest version (2.0).

Get it from Sandbagger's mods site:
link

It's near the bottom.

I strongly recommend that you download and use Robert Wiggins's "User File Backup Utility", available at the mod site https://https://www.thatoneplease.co. Look under the heading "Tools". Running this little utility takes about 20 or 30 seconds. It backs up all your pilots' data and let you launch Woff directly after it runs. It is then very simple to restore a lost pilot – basically, restoring all your files to the way they were before the last time you ran the utility. It's a good idea to run it before every Woff session and, if you've had a particularly significant mission in your career, to exit and rerun it so you don't lose the benefit of it.

Best of luck!

Robert's back up file utility is also a great tool to have. Sorry I did not mention it earlier.
