I didn’t know about this and would have loved to have seen it.

Neat story. The “old ways”.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

That is quit the tale. It would have been interesting to see. Pretty cool Base Commander, as well.

Some story. thumbsup For sure back in the day.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Great Story! Glad to hear they're trying to bring it back into flying status, especially after we just lost a B-17 recently.

That's a heck of a story. Being as the plane had so few hours it would seem that this gentleman gave this plane much of its history by way of his pursuit and use of it. Really fun story. It must have been great being a kid in that town and getting to ride your bike up to the Flying Fortress filling station!

Imagine if someone had taken such a brand new bomber and stored it in a barn (wings off etc) out of the weather for all these years.
