Massive multiplayer games? Brilliant. I've subscribed.

I'll have to get my carrier take off and landing skills up to snuff, before I tackle this.

The game wasn't dead to begin with so I am not sure what a revival means.

SAS and the BAT mod they make is immensely popular. But I much prefer single play dynamic career oriented campaigns like most people do.

I think by revival, they mean heavily populated servers.
I'm with you WW, I prefer offline with the BAT mod.

Indeed it wasn't. A very active, dedicated and talented community such as can be found at the SAS forums M4T have updated and modified it to keep it current.
I think the word revival is being used here in the context of "an instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again" to quote Oxford Dictionary definition.
We will never again see the days of sitting watching IL2 Hyperlobby to drop to 999 players so one could join in any sim probably.
Many players disillusioned with 'GB' have drifted back to the older version MP I have witnessed.

Enigma and his crew are running a campaign now using the SEOW program modified to work in dogfight mode!
They had 77 Players show up for Mission #1 on Saturday November 12, 2022.

Holy crow what happened to the videos? They are massive now !!!

I'm with the majority here it seems. It doesn't need reviving on my PC. I play it all the time alongside WOFF, WOTR, Panzer Elite and a few Star Wars games. What's best about il2 is that you can tweak the campaigns, planes so easily because its in plain English, not coded gibberish. With help from Lowengrins DCG, I've basically got campaigns running from 36 to 46 without much of a break
