This game is fantastic and it has so many options in terms to campaigns. I was wondering if any players had a favorite campaign suggestions.

Well of course, RAF Fighter pilot Chris Wednsforth II for No. 238 Squadron Tangmere flying the highly vaunted Hawker Hurricane! Here is a little story to go along with my favorite Campaign which I am sad to admit I have never completed, the story nor the Campaign. Maybe I will get back to it some day.

What a great story! Kudos!!

While I have an inkling of the amount of work involved in putting this together, I do understand how Real Life can interfere with such an endeavor.

I hope you get a chance, at some time, to finish the final chapters. Meanwhile I will sign up, with my poor beginner skills, for Squadron No. 238 Tangmere.

Thanks for all your had work, it has enlightened me and filled in a great gap in my knowledge of WW2 history.

Seems you can't sign up for the 238 Squadron Tangmere or I am doing something wrong.

I was able to sign up with Squadron 43 Tangmere, so will try playing that. Squadron 238 was in a different location and the Spitfires were not available yet.

145 Squadron also fly from Tangmere Snow, they move to Westhampnett on the 17th July ..flying the Hurricane.

213 move there on the 18th August mate.

Thanks for your kind words Snow46. I worked on that story for the better part of a year and a half and it wore me out. I have had the next chapter almost complete for over 6 months or more, so maybe this winter I will finish it and the last 3 or 4 chapters to close out the story.
It seems I remember being able to sign up for 238 @ Tangmere in Hurricanes, but you have to manually set your Campaign instead of letting WOTR set up that Campaign for you. There should be a button on the initial Campaign page to allow you to manually choose the date and the Squadron you want to fly. I will try to fire up WOTR tomorrow and have a look and report back.

Snow46, keep your eye on that Adger character, AKA Ade, as he is a bit shifty and full to the brim with BOB info and experience in WOTR. He is not to be trifled with, watch him mate!

Thanks for the warning, but Adger has been a lot of help to this flight sim beginner. I was able to manually select the 238th Squadron but I didn’t have the ability to decrease the date to when they had Typhoons, it would allow me to advance the date to when they had Spitfires.

Quick update, tried again to join the 238th Squadron, this time it let me move the date to 17 July 1940 and now I can start the campaign flying a Typhoon.

I am Blessed way beyond what I deserve Ade, I hope you and your Family are as well Sir!

Snow46, I understand that the Hurricane is not for everyone, but I like the tough old workhorse. I did a lot of testing in the Spit before she was even introduced into WOTR and she is a sweet and lethal kite, but I have never flown her in a Campaign yet. I have quite fond memories of Hun hunting in the Spit for several weeks and I know once I do hitch a ride in one in a Campaign that it will be hard to ever go back to the Huri again. Maybe that is why I just stayed in the old girl for all of this time. I am getting a hankering to jump back into WOTR with all of this talk of Huris and Spittys and Campaigns. I just need to sit down and figure out how to get my new HOTAS setup and working in WOFF & WOTR. No Pol I nerve have done it, but I did just download UCR and the directions you sent me, so maybe tomorrow I can have a look. I definitely need to get it set before WOTR BOF is released! yep Have fun Snow46 and keep us posted here or in the AAR thread in the top light blue area of the main WOTR thread. I always love to read of others exploits in WOTR. thumbsup

I learned something today. I though the campaigns were randomly generated.

[align:right][/align]Now that I have my cheap HOTAS actually working, I am playing the campaign with the 43rd Squadron out of Tangemere. It is in Hurricane aircraft and am learning a lot about the game and slowly increasing the difficulty. I have ordered the first piece in what I hope will be a decent HOTAS someday.

They are randomly generated; no campaign day will be the same - unlike totally scripted sims. However the squadrons involved will be set to "active" and usually will be involved when they should be. We can make scripted events too if we wish.

Within the massive scope of WOFF (WW1) which is also randomly created, there are some special days that have scripted scenarios (for example British Home Defence career - there are historical dates of raids by Zeppelins) but the aircraft involved will vary somewhat and will always turn out differently!
