The situation.
Also , pay attention to "Gaston". Strangly enough it has taken a 180 over the Azores and is heading west.
What is "Gaston" up to?

Hopefully Gaston will remain a tropical storm. Fiona is the big problem. It currently has sustained winds of 125 mph.

Bad news there Archie.

Say some vids of damage including one house washing/blowing away!

Latest track from the NOAA has tropical storm IAN going into the Gulf of Mexico and then entering the panhandle area of Florida. Hopefully it stays a tropical storm.

Maybe building a house on the rocks where the ocean collides with them is not such a good idea

More then likely it will be a Cat 4 (maybe 3 at landfall)

Maybe a brick, better yet, a stone house would have faired better than this wooden home…

Seems IAN is moving close to Oldgrognard onThursday.
Are you moving your Cardinal or is a hangar safe?

I still have my eyes on GASTON.
It is moving toward warmer seatemperatures.
Not saying it will feed and grow, but it I believe it is worth paying attention.

Indeed that seems to be the case. Looks like the storm will hit land around the Tampa area and then head north into the panhandle. Assuming the current track doesn't change, it looks like my area will be getting lots of rain but minimal winds.

First off, I am not on the coast, but if it wasn't for the luck/foresight of my good friend, I'd be hauling butt oughta here. At this point you probably have to get to the east coast/Jax area to get gas.

I am moving approx 10 miles west to...

THE BUNKER! Nestled inside a little pole barn is a nice solid Conex, anchored to the cement slab, 2 Generators, a freezer, A/C and fridge available, set up to run on another genset and numerous gas, wood and propane cooking appliances. If you are in Sarasota, Tampa Bay and north along the west coast of Florida, AND are not prepared for at LEAST two weeks (maybe a month) without power, you may be in for a real bummer...a life altering bummer experience. If it's a CAT 3 or Cat 4 slamming into Tampa Bay with a 10'+ storm surge and you are still there...well you will wish you weren't...as may your heirs. LEAVE! GTFO!

Oh, the Bunker.

If you guys are closing that container door, you should consider having some escape tools inside, in case that door gets blocked/jammed.

I am in the path. On the the west coast north of Tampa. Today I am boarding up the house with plywood sheets. Have done all my other prep work. Filled cars. I’m expecting a pretty strong blow.

I’ll keep you all posted.

Big breaker bar, chain saws (3) and hopefully a little help from the big guy, no not that one, the one upstairs. Are you leaving CyBer? I am moving to the bunker later today.

I am about 25 or 30 miles to the NE of OG and some 15 ish miles ENE of CyBer, close anyway.

Best of luck my friend. CAT III now, just coming across west end of Cuba with a fully formed eye now. I am expecting a sadly epic disaster for the Tampa Bay area. Off to find some ice I hope, then trashing everything in my fridge that I am not taking with me. Expecting no power at my place for at LEAST 10 days, if it still exists.

I spent yesterday afternoon making two adorable young ladies I know leave their home in Homosassa, by telling them the stories of an acquaintance fishing bodies out of the Mississippi river post Katrina, and they are now enroute to a relatives in WV. CAT 2 or 3 eyewalls full of Tornadoes KILL, even CAT I. Storm surges KILL, and are maybe the scariest natural force I have ever witnessed. Luckily I am too far inland to worry about that.

Probably at least a week without cell service.

I truly hope to God I am wrong. I have been there and done this too many times and I had hoped I was done. I guess not.
