I was into this when first released and spent loads of time reading the manual.

As it progressed I lost interest, moving to WW2 and WW1 - harder to fly, but the systems were easier.

Now I've downloaded 4.36 and - just astonished. It's tough to learn. My old training sort of works, in the sense that I can fly and land the F16. And with a bit of work can even get permission from tower to do so. It's taken a while to get the joystick set up, and that's still a bit work in progress, I have to say it is amazing - hat's off to real pilots in a war zone having to manage all the systems, but this gives you a some idea of what they have to cope with. Will keep studying the masses of documentation and youtube videos, and maybe will start a campaign before too long.

Not for the fainthearted but so good to see such attention to detail, and of course the big plus with Falcon was the campaign module, so lacking from some other sims.

BMS is a fantastic piece of work mate, yeah it is tough but ultimately rewarding..Anyway i'll post a link to Steve's training missions (mission1..of 13) that have certainly helped me hope they help. cheers

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Welcome to Falcon. No better combat sim as far as I am concerned. It's a shallow learning curve no doubt, but very rewarding, and when you touch down after an especially difficult mission the satisfaction is high

(steep learning curves indicate the learning is done quickly, which is why the curve is steep, and the term is constantly mis-used. Falcon is a long, slow burn )

Not too long ago we had a good thread for some beginner tips, which flamed out quickly. Too bad, that was a good discussion. Anyway, maybe you can take something from it

Good hunting

Thanks Adger and DBond. Those training mission videos are very useful - and I hadn't seen that thread before, again very useful.

I think you misunderstand the term "Steep learning curve" - it has bugger-all to do with time, but the "steep" part is the clue to the phrase. As in steep hill - gradient etc. Hard to get to the summit.

I say it as I see it

One of us misunderstands. I reckon it isn't me.
