A good friends father was shot down over Balogna in 1944. They were flying a brand new B-17G in the 300thBG and were hit by flak. He bailed out and was found and hidden by a partisan group then passed through the lines when they reached the area. My wife's uncle Capt. Jack Price was killed when his B-17 crached on landing after a bombing mission there.
Nice work Moggy! In sorting the various scenarios that could be modeled on the new map, it's remarkable how little I find I know about the Italian theatre. Remedying that now with a few new books. Meanwhile I had a go at sprucing up the old Woolman/Andy/Karel partly hi-res model of the PZL P11, an aircraft used by the Polish and Romanian airforces:

Do you mean you now also have an actual tilemap like the one below, or is this still a set of targets moved close together in the mountainous part of Europe to mimic the theatre, as I read in a previous thread? https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads....italy-balkans-russia-theatre#Post4579902I like that terrain set very much, which is why I'm using it as default in my online sessions, I also have a few other of this guy's tilesets, the above tileset in my picture was kind of created in a simmilar way and is constantly expanding. Perhaps not the crispiest of screenshots but not bad for a 255MB crappy old vintage legacy machine with WinME and a mere 32MB gForce2 videocard, VonBeerhofen

I finished the tile and elevation map Italy and the Balkans last year. This is the area covered (showing early 1941 national boundaries): The original intention was to model the Eastern front campaigns(inspired by Jan Tuna's work in that area) which also involved the air forces of the Balkan states, but as the map includes most of Southern and central Italy, I'm including those scenarios as well. or is this still a set of targets moved close together in the mountainous part of Europe to mimic the theatre, as I read in a previous thread? If you read that thread you see that this is an entirely new map. You are misunderstanding Jelly's reference to a map they use for online play at Game Ranger.

One of the joys of using the exes we have released since 1.28 is the ability to set the bases and target in multiplayer games. Hence, I make no apology for hacking some theatres by moving targets and making a frontline that allows for a variety of ground-started missions at GameRanger. 1.29 and later exes allowed for a flexible tile-map, and a new map system was born. It became possible to make working selection maps and in-flight maps from the tile-map file. This allows for testing, but the maps can still be used for on-line and off-line play. They are great for judging distances and direction in on-line games. However, there is nothing stopping modders from using them to make improved versions, as Alessandro did for Moggy's IRAQ.

Good on ya, I can see how using the center section can make things a lot easier. The map you posted suffices for my needs, thx a lot! Sorry if I mistook your map for this one: it's not all that different is it? VonBeerhofen

That is a screenie of the UAW160 script making utility for multiplayer games. The map is generated from the "eaw32.tm" file, it shows the bases in red, the other targets in blue and the front-line in black. The script can be saved by the user. By now we have a whole library of scripts we can use at GameRanger This one has the "multiplayer friendly" front-line which weaves between bases making a large number of ground-started missions possible.
