The prequel to Game of Thrones is almost here. The premiere episode will be out next Sunday on HBO and HBO Max. One great difference from Game of Thrones with this show is that George RR Martin is one of the executive producers and thus is heavily involved in the creative decisions. There should be no rushed shortcuts like what we got with the last season of GOT. Who else will be watching?

I really enjoyed GoT and it's not the type of thing I usually enjoy.
So yes, I will be giving this a go.

I am hoping it will be good and will not have been subjected to "wokification" Amazon's “Wheel Of Time” sure was! What a horrible, horrible job they did with that. It had less to do with the books than the idea of a high-tech nation called Wakanda does with the history of Africa. I thought GRRM was an executive producer for GOT?

He had an executive producer title but he wasn't involved in the day to day creative decisions of the show. That was done by Dan an Dave.

No spoilers of course but the premiere episode was utterly fantastic. This will be a worthy prequel to Game of Thrones. Who else here saw it? I'm not excited, but feel I'll have to watch it before the spoilers erupt.

Is it because of the way GOT ended or because the premise (Targaryen backstory) doesn't grab you?

Can I watch this without seeing Game of Thrones first? Game of Thrones stay on TV for 8 years, 62 episodes: that's too much to make up. LOL really? You can't be bothered to watch 62 hours of television? Please. You could watch the entire series over dinner for three months and be caught up.
