That's good they're only making a couple more. I really enjoyed the first one, they just keep getting sillier and sillier with each one. I'll probably start despising them if they make enough of them.

Hollywood is a business so I completely understand that franchises keep going as long as they are making money for the studio but more often than not, these franchises end up overstaying their welcome as evidenced by declining box office receipts. I'm looking at you Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean!

It's probably more to do with attracting female viewers. Would you not accept a black Bond, female Bond?
We need to adapt that time moves on.
How did the female Ghostbusters make out ? My point was it's just more Disney wokeness. You know the catch phrase "toxic masculinity".
I honestly don't care Ross. I'll never watch a superhero movie anyway. I'm a 55 year old man. And I couldn't tell you the last Bond movie I saw. Have a purple female star in it for all I care.
I'd accept a black Bond. Idris Elba would have been my choice. Female? No. She can be a different 00 but then it'd never get off the ground.
I'd argue that the female Ghostbusters didn't fail so much because of the cast, but because it was a terrible film. I have enjoyed McCarthy and Wiig in most films they've starred in but this didn't make me laugh once. Oh wait, I did once, at a line from Chris Hemsworth.
I dont like reframing iconic characters. I also think you could have a black James Bond, black people have been in England for centuries. He could have a plausible backstory of course. A female Bond is a different thing altogether. It would be like a male Wonder Woman, not the same thing at all.
There are female spies and agents that could carry a franchise if it were well written and produced, not some half backed knock off. For instance a Modesty Blaise series, or even more recently, "Nikita". The 90s series with Peta Wilson was excellent and very believable. Worth a watch now even. The American "Point of No Return" not so much, but they did give an honest try.
Audiences now are being shafted with "reimagining" artworks that others already produced. Come up with your own work. That is all.

My first thought was that I'd have no problem with a heterosexual black male 007. But then again, in today's political correctness climate, it would seemed forced. Moot point as I've started passing on new Bond films anyway.
I thought the ladies liked a masculine debonair 007 (mine sure likes Connery's hairy chest and Moore's gentleman mannerisms).

I disagree. I don't have to adapt to crap, especially as wokeism is only getting worse.

Most females I know were more attracted by Chris Hemsworth as Thor rather than Natalie Portman as female Thor.... maybe its different where you are...

So when will we get a series about the Duke of Wellington played by some Chinese guy?

A youtuber (Melissa Hunter) did her own series of Wednesday Addams but I think she ran into copyright issues (unsurprisingly) so she no longer has the series on her channel but you can find them easily enough.
I thought it was very well done and may have been an inspiration for the new series.

You know you're old when you realize Christina Ricci is now 42 years old.

Zero interest in that. How good is your German or will you just be reading the subtitles?
