I was shocked to learn he was 83 years old, but then "Magnum P.I." was 40 years ago.....

What I find most poignant is that he didn't die from natural causes but a car crash. Not everyone makes it to their 80's.

Yeah, what a shame. Perhaps the crash was due to medical reasons ?

I really enjoyed the show and his role as the pilot, T.C was a good man.

That has not been mentioned in any articles I have read but the articles did mention that he was paralyzed from the shoulders down after the accident.
