Now have to keep myself busy. Well since mom is 99 yrs old and living with us im keeping busy taking care of her. My wife also retired from teaching this year. Keep saving if you're working in your ROTH IRA/401K Don't depend on social security as it might not be here when u do retire.

Congrats on retirement. The key is to now stay active and involved. Whatever you do, do not sit on the couch waiting to die.
You are right about having financial stability. Do not get into the position of having to rely on government benefits. You have to take control of your own future and welfare.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Congrats Haggart Welcome to the ranks of the pensioneers Finally got there myself and "officialy" retired at the end of June. As OG said make sure you are financialy secure and stable, I have never counted on getting a state pension, hang I found out today they lost my paperwork and I called the DWP (Dept. Work and Pension) to find out why I had not got my stipend which the paperwork was filed with them in April, now awaiting that first Govt. cheque

If I had known how good retirement is I’d have done it 40 years sooner. In High School a couple friends and I had a saying: "He who retires first, Wins". One friend won solidly -- age 50, he retired a multi-millionaire. I came in second -- definitely NOT a multi-millionaire -- but, like you, happy I retired. It would be even better if I had 31 more years to retirement -- I'd probably live longer
