I just tried "Expert" settings and then returned to "Standard". But objects and navigation icons didn't return! sigh
I tried repeatedly to restore them, with no avail.
I removed all mods by JSGME, but no juice.
I checked game files (finding three suspect - then redownloaded and now are all OK at the second check), and still objects and navigation icons are missing. nope
Please help!

During a previous simulation I must have inadvertently pressed the "I" key. duh Pressing it again now, everything is back to normal. Definitely, in this forum I won the stupidity award!
