WIKI:

Quote
Jaws also played a major part in establishing summer as the prime season for the release of studios' biggest box-office contenders, their intended blockbusters;[126][210] winter had long been the time when most hoped-for hits were distributed, while summer was largely reserved for dumping films thought likely to be poor performers.[209] Jaws and Star Wars are regarded as marking the beginning of the new U.S. film industry business model dominated by "high-concept" pictures—with premises that can be easily described and marketed—as well as the beginning of the end of the New Hollywood period, which saw auteur films increasingly disregarded in favor of profitable big-budget pictures.

This is interesting!

I was way too young to have seen Jaws when it first came out in theaters and I don’t think I saw the movie until I was in junior high school.

You're gonna need a bigger boat line was not written for this scene. Roy Scheider said it on the spot.

I was in Jr. High School when it came out and saw it in the theater. I enjoyed it, but because we didn't really go into the ocean much where I grew up (Alaska), it didn't really scare me. I actually got into sharks a little bit, kind of like a lot of kids get into dinosaurs, but it didn't last long.

I read that the 2 actors didn't like one another.

You can see some of it in this

This film had a huge impact here in the UK.
Cinema queues round the block not seen since 'The Exorcist' the previous year, but without the Religious Zealots' pickets.
Shark fever took hold of the younger generation, which although the shark was the 'baddie', it is said that the film contributed much to marine ecology and preservation in general, and sharks in particular.
I remember the screams from the audience at the anticipated decapitated head coming out of the scuttle scene, which looks so tame now!

I still don't understand why Red Dawn was remade a few years ago. What a colossal waste of time. I guess the producers of the remake didn't realize that what made the original memorable was the fact that it was a COLD WAR era movie?

David Lynch was actually approached by the producers to see if he would want to direct but he politely turned it down. I can definitely understand why!

Another movie is 30 years old. Never saw it.

I am hearing that Clint Eastwood is in poor health, he might pass soon. Anyone heard? I am not finding any news on it. Nearly the last 2 weeks, it's on Tik Tok and Facebook.

Eastwood is too young and too legend to die.

Not yet but the temptation is there. What keeps bringing me back are the laughs I get from his occasional absurd and flippant posts. biggrin
