Fred Ward has passed on. He has always been one of my favorite character actors. He did a lot of great stuff that I know many of us have really enjoyed such as The Right Stuff and Remo Williams. One of my favorite Vietnam war themed movies is Uncommon Valor. I always liked the heart and spirit of that movie and the many characters and personalities that were in that story including the character Ward played. I don't think we will see too many more actors like himself who brought to his acting a colorful background and life typical of many actors of his era and certainly from before in previous generations.
He got the bum role in "The Right Stuff," too. Did a good job with it.
RIP
Thanks for the movies.
It was a travesty what they did to Gus in that movie. I can't watch it, I fast forward through that part.
RIP Fred

I didn't recognize him by name but as soon as I looked him up I immediately recognized him from his photos. He was a prolific character actor.
