The game is working great, but I'd like to use my HOTAS setup (joystick+throttle+pedals) to control the Comanche and it's harder than I thought. I've used Vjoy and Joystick Gremlin to create a virtual joystick which combined the X+Y josyick axes, Z axis from the pedals and Slider axis from my throttle.
However! I cannot find a way to make Comanche recognize it over the physical devices. Joystick Gremlin's HIDGuardian refuses to hide the selected devices and Devreorder does not have any effect on the game. Any tips? Does anyone fly this oldie with a HOTAS? CH Manager would be the answer, but unfortunately my joystick is not CH.
Maybe this is not exactly your way to fly. the Comanche Gold with joystick, but let me introduce to you one interesting option. I use a program - PPJoystick from Deon van der Westhuysen to transform the PC mouse into a joystick - mouse moves gives cyclic - mouse scroll gives collective - push on the scroll changes weapons - right mouse button cycles targets - left mouse button is for fire on the target The advantage is that the virtual joystick do not take additional space and you don't look like a flight maniac :-)
You can use PPJoy with Joystick Remixer application to create a virtual HOTAS and then map the physical axes and buttons of your devices to it. Then, to make an old game to work with specific controller, one should go to Control Panel > Gaming Devices > Additional > Select PPJoy Virtual controller (or whatever vitual joystick you are using) as preferred device. That is in Win7, don't know about Win10. I usually fly Comanche with Thrustmaster Cougar and pedals attached to it, so the whole lot is percieved as a single device by the system - most convenient for the older sims, which cannot see more that one controller.

This worked a treat, thank you! I stuck with Vjoy and Joystick gremlin, but it should works for any virtual joystick. In Win10 the setting is in "Game Controllers>Advanced Settings> Select the device you want to use with older programs". Selected vJoy and voila, full HOTAS control in Comanche. This is Griffon 2-6, objective complete, over! Thanks again!
