I'm looking to get back in to a strat game, grand strategy or 4x. I did actually start a new run last night in Civ 6, as Cleopatra.
I had been pinning my hopes on Humankind, but I don't like how it turned out all that much (I have not played), and then Warhammer 3 was a bust, both of which left a hole in my plans that I am looking to fill.
Anyone playing Humankind care to say how it is?
No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

You might want to wait for "Terra Invicta" due out Q2. Same guys who will put out "Old World"...
Other then that Distant Worlds 2

DBond, my guess Is that you might not be Into space strat games, or space 4x for that matter so since I already posted a few, let me change era/settings...
IIRC I already mentioned these games before.
- Dominions 5 Warriors of Earth. Simple graphics but a good In-depth game.

Reasonably accurate statement I reckon
I watched some of that video, and it has some Stellaris vibes. I played that one pretty extensively in the early days, before much DLC had come out. I liked it well enough, I'm a Paradox fan I guess you could say. But I didn't like how combat was handled and I eventually shelved it, and have not returned.
I also bought Endless Space 2 a few years ago. Wallowed through the tutorial and then returned it. Might be a good game in there, but I didn't take to it. I've only ever refunded two Steam games. This one, and Panzer Corps.
Thanks for the info. I'm pretty far in to a Civ 6 run, so getting my 4x fix at the mo.

So after returning Destroyer: The Uboat Hunter I ended up with Terra Invicta.
Codex, tooltips and tutorials don't seem like they're 100% done. Made for some tough trial and error and two horribly failed campaigns trying to learn it. I'm diggin it so far though. Still trying to figure out all the gameplay though. I like the idea of the factions, but they all seem to gun for the player which doesn't really make sense. Some of the factions I can see, since the objectives are vastly different for those factions and I see no way the Resistance or Humanity first would ever get along with the Servants or Protectorate. Some of them though, I'd think you'd be able to be on friendlier terms.
I also don't yet know how to get into space proper. By the time I meet the requirements, all the other factions already have everything scoped out. Since most of the research is shared worldwide, I don't know how they get such a jump start.
There's only 1 campaign, which starts in the modern day, but you can play any of the factions. There are plans to add different start dates, so back in the cold war with different political situations on Earth and lower tech and another that starts a couple decades from now with a higher tech level and maybe some space assets.
It's too early for me to give that one a go, but I've got me eye on it. I was left with the impression that this is the game we would get if Paradox made X Com. It's funny because looking at Steam reviews now I'm not the only one saying that. Let us know what you think as you get more in to it, and as the game evolves if you stick with it. Good potential here, but I don't do early access.
