I really do like this cast but let's hope the writing is more inspired this time around. I watched "Beyond" one time in the movie theater and then forgot about it about 2 weeks later.

Meh. I think JJ Abrams is one of those people really enamored with his own talent. Such that he believes that anything he dreams up represents great writing. His torturing of both Star Trek and Star Wars shows that he just doesn't have great writing abilities. And don't get me started with Lost biggrin

Now were Tarantino still interested, then I would be interested smile I can't even imagine how that would pan out but I'd pay money to find out smile

Blech. "Beyond" was blah. I only rated it two out of four stars. So many problems. Maybe if they fire the producer, directors and writers and start with some fresh folks born in the Gen-X or Baby Boomer generation will this become interesting.

Not to pile on, but I agree, the JJ Abrams movies have all been bland to awful. Into Darkness was offensively bad, like he was just trying to make a movie to insult Trek fans. It's too bad about Anton Yelchin.

And the thing is that you can't even use the argument anymore that JJ's Trek movies make tons of money so the studio is happy. ST Beyond LOST a significant amount of money for Paramount.

This is kind of interesting:

J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Movie Announcement Caught Its Stars By Surprise
https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/ne...ars-by-surprise/ar-AAUbcLP?ocid=msedgntp

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actors such as Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, and John Cho were caught by surprise when franchise director and producer J.J. Abrams told Paramount investors a fourth film was in the works, with them as the stars. Representations for the actors “were not aware that an announcement for another film was coming, much less that their clients would be touted as a part of the deal, and certainly not that their clients would be shooting a movie by year’s end,” the trade reports.

Wow, this calls for the Picard "double face palm" award for Paramount. Now the actors can demand higher fees because if they are NOT hired for the film it will make JJ and Paramount look like buffoons in the public eye.

the 4th movie was actually CANCELLED originally because the CAST wanted more money then paramount was willing to pay based upon how well star trek beyond performed..

so in a way they are trying to use fans to create enough draw to force the cast into another movie

they already HAD a simon pegg script for th 4th film.. winthin 5 months of beyond starting filming.

Problem is, the film franchise still has the number disease to it profit wise. And far to much backlash over the so called star trek tv shows going on now

If I ran Paramount I wouldn't even bother with a theatrical release for future ST films. I would lower the budgets considerably and then show them exclusively on the Paramount streaming network.
