So, now meatloaf frown

I liked the guy. He had a narrow but intense period of fame followed by a consistent background fame, but he was a regular nontheless. Almost defined a genre.

Responsible for one of the world's most iconic albums, of course. One of those "everyone has a copy" albums.

Another legend gone, who had to struggle long and hard to receive recognition for his immense talents......I hope he can 'see Paradise by the Dashboard Light' now.

R.I.P. Meat Loaf.

I remember this song and Mom walk into the living room and screamed: what are you watching? She told us we were watching dirty TV and made us go to our rooms.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
One of the Greatest, who truly contributed to the soundtrack of our lifes. Would have wished him a few more years, 74 is quite young.

Agreed Colonel. 74 is a bit young. RIP

To be honest, I had no clue who he was until his big "comeback" MTV video that came out in the early 90's.

We are seeing people who are associated with our lives passing on. And from The Time Machine - Yvette Mimieux.

I just checked out his discography and his debut album went 14x Platinum (14 million copies sold). That is stunning when you consider that is getting close to "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall" territory.

Also (not that I was a big fan), I just saw that Louie Anderson passed as well, at 68, from cancer:

I mostly remember Louie Anderson for his small but hilarious role in “Coming to America”.

Louie Anderson was really funny. He was very popular for a while there in the eighties.

RIP for Meatloaf. I remember the song Paradise by the Dashboard light being played constantly at parties. He did a lot of touring with his daughter up onto a few years ago. The guy could put on a great show.

I was 10 when this album was released. It was massive, lots of radio play.

RIP. I wasn’t a big fan of most of his stuff (the song Bat Out Of Hell is the only one I can say with 100% certainty that I like) but you won’t find someone who worked harder and put more blood, sweat, and tears into his music and performances.

I was mostly into his hits, but he was an unforgettable star of the era. Meatloaf will be missed.
Rest in Peace.

i always thought he would die during a Concert belting out a hit, looking pale, drenched in sweat and of a Massive Coronary. 'Cos he always look like he was about to have a heart attack.

I agree, Meat always looked like he was ready to have a massive Heart attack while performing. The one song that I could identify with was Paradise by a Dashboard Light Visions of my Teenage years , Drive Ins and backseats of Cars, flood the mind. I should also mention his backup singer was on the money every time. loved her energy and voice.
