Hey Kaische, glad you are in at least! I'm pulling about 50 fps. My first camera was about 15-20 and while it worked, it was not as smooth as this one is. Do you have your other camera to try out and see what you get?

Looking at this page: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/hd-webcam-c270, I don't see a specific frame rate mentioned, but I would guess an HD camera should go up to at least 30fps.

Here's something you can check, although it doesn't seem too promising:

Quote:

Hints & Tips:

The performance of the web cam not only depends on the make and model. There are a few things you have to consider:
•Proper lighting is important. Web cams are known to 'throttle back' in fps, when lighting is not sufficient. Indirect light from a source above and behind the monitor works best.
•On some web cams, exposure is linked with fps. If you think the framerate you get is too low, try adjusting exposure settings.
•Try connecting an USB web cam to a port that is not used by other USB devices (like through a HUB).
•Some users have reported that the 'software-suite' that comes with some web cams, may interfere with the face-tracker. Try to disable or remove it, if you experience problems.

We have experienced that it is best to place the web-cam below the monitor.

Let me know if you can try your other camera and report back or if any of those tips help...

Rick, wasn't able to get my FaceTrackNoIr tweaked to my liking. I see the potential of this program but never got really familiar with it.

Finally I did invest in a new TrackIR, version 5 and do like the results very much. Much more precise than the 4th version and almost nothing to worry about, very seldom need to recenter when ingame...

Appreciate your help anyhow, thank you very much!

Thank you, Rick, good to be back in the air! It´s funny that we were used to fly without such things as headtracking, isn´t it? Merry Christmas!

Yeah, I used the mouse in IL2, but this is a game changer! Merry Christmas to you too!

Great, let us know if you have any problems, it works pretty well, especially if you don't wear glasses and have a light source behind the monitor. All of my videos in the video thread are made using it.

Hi there.

I wonder if anyone may be able to help me?

I use facetracknoir with a PS3EYE camera and it works really well for me in daylight, but it's not so great for me at night in low light conditions.

I have been toying with getting TrackIR5 for a while now, but I may have a problem.

All the videos I see of trackIR are of people with the tracker stuck on the top of their screen, but my Gaming pc is hooked up to a 55" LG 1080p TV in my front room and I sit on my sofa and use a wheel stand pro that I got for my G27 wheel and use a Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS and Cessna Pro Flight rudder pedals on it and it's really comfy.

I put the PS3 eye camera on the coffee table in front of me via a USB extension cable and like I say, works great in daylight, and rubbish when I only have a lamp on in the evening.

I keep reading that Trackir5 only works at about 5ft away, but I currently sit about 2+ metres away from my screen. Anyone know if I can plug the TrackIR camera into a usb cable and will it sit on it's stand on a coffe table ( or any flat surface ) or does anyone know the maximum range it will actually do in low light conditions?

Do you have a little lamp on the coffee table shining up on you? I don't have TrackIR, so I can't help with that, but I have a light behind my monitor and it seems to pick up ok...the glare off my glasses is what gets me!

Bumping this good thread up - those still using FaceTrackNoir with the WOFF series might also like to check over this post.

Cheers all,

Man, this thread takes me back! Never could get over the glasses reflection messing up my view at the most inopportune moments! How's life, VonS?

FaceTrackNoir has improved greatly since then, but it's still good to have an extra lamp on in the room - for better tracking.

I usually only fly with my pov-view button on the joystick and padlock, but TrackNoir is a nice little addon that helps with landings and immersion - and cheap too, about 5 USD to the developer of this excellent program, and a 3 USD vga cam that I still have from years ago. Can't go wrong with those prices. biggrin

I'm doing good - bit busy with work but hope to do some WOFFing soon.

Cheers all,
