I'm trying to skin my BE2c for the DiD campaign but can't seem to Skin the engine housing or the upright wing spars.

No matter what colour I put on (or what layer) I have issues ... the rest of the plane is fine just engine housing and spars

I'm using this for inspiration

I wondered if anyone can help?

Thanks

Seb

Aaaaah yes, the old "why can't I paint certain parts of my aircraft" conundrum. A long-standing OFF/WOFF mystery. You will find said parts in the "shared" folder inside the "aircraft" folder in your WOFF install. Don't ask why, but that is where they will be, likely an old CFS3 holdover or some such. And when you paint those shared parts the color you want, every other plane of that type will also sport the new color.

Thank you both! I understand that makes sense. I will try and work around it!

Take care!

I've had a look at creating a jsgme mod that would change the shared picture of a later war BE2c while I'm in 1915 ... however, I think I've uncovered an issue.

The Vanilla BE2c skins seem to only show the year default. I've been testing by going through all the skins in Quick Combat (unmodded) and there seems to be a problem. Can anyone confirm that they have the same? I'm in BH&H2.

The quickest way to test is "HD 37 squadron" in quick combat (should be all black) instead it's just default...

Thanks

Seb

Thanks, Lou! I don't think I ever knew that!

Hi Seb,
As Lou points out, the skinning of some aircraft can be a problem due to the way the templates are laid out and how they are associated with the 'shared' templates, which are created by OBD.
I skinned many thousands of aircraft in my ten year stint as an OBD skinner.
I came across this problem many times times, including distortion in some areas.
Most of the time I had to get back to OBD to sort it out.
Just one of the vagaries I'm afraid of skinning,

Mike

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate your answer ... as well as your beautiful skins! I've thought about writing a wee jsgme mod - but the BE2cs are beyond me. Thank you again!

The front of ALL the BE2's and BE12's were remapped to new custom high res areas for that nose area to make them much better looking (without undoing 100s of skins too).
So you can't change the front cowl area without manually changing it's shared texture each time.
