Actually, it's pretty cheesy. But for some reason, I always liked watching it when it would come on one of the local late movie channels. You'll defiantly get some laughs out of it if your ever bored and some time to kill.

The real irony is that Pan AM was defunct a full decade before the movies time line.

It was a good few years there for dystopian sci-fi. Even if you never saw the movies, the Planet Of The Apes final reveal and Soylent Green's premise are cultural DNA now. 2001, Rollerball, Silent Running, Dark Star, all these are great (but lesser than the aforementioned) examples of the genre
In other news, we are not only into Soylent Green time, we have passed the time when Roy Batty was born and past the time when Marty McFly had to fix the future.

.
There's nothing dystopian about 2001. In fact it's the total opposite as it portrays a prosperous and stable future.

In the current day West they're called Unicorn & Rainbow sandwiches.

Was not a bad movie. Essential viewing for any sci-fi fans.
Now watch "Andromeda Strain," "THX 1138," and "Logan's Run."

Andromeda Strain is great. I was riveted throughout the entire film. Logan's Run is very good too and I can stare at a young Jenny Agutter all day long anyway.
I admit that it was very tough getting through THX 1138 when I first saw it. A lot of the story just made no sense to me and the pacing was glacial even by my standards.

Yep, THX is slow. I first saw the film sometime in the early to mid 80s when I was a kid and was captivated by the weirdness. We had a great local video store in town.

I watched it with an ex girlfriend and about 30 minutes into the movie she said "I'm sorry but I have no clue what's going on". LOL
One of these days I may give it a second shot and see if my impressions change at all.

It's funny, I think most guys remember Jenny Agutter from Logan's Run more than they remember Farah Fawcett in the movie.

I can easily see that since Agutter had the much larger role and in my opinion Fawcett was attractive but I never quite understood why she was such a big deal. I guess I'm trying to say that I think she was overrated?

Blasphemy! Oh, you'll smoke a turd in hell for that!
You line up Fawcett & Agutter side by side, I'm choosing Agutter every time.
Disclaimer: I've had a lifelong crush on Agutter
I believe it was the outfit she was wearing when she showed up on the virtual dating machine. I think every red blooded young boy had that image in his mind for a very long while.

If you saw the unedited British version, you would see her get out of it and be completely naked. As in, full frontal nudity naked
That's not why I like her though. She has a certain something that appeals directly to me. You might not find her that attractive in an image, but in movement she is my ideal.

Whos Jenny Agutter? I like Jennifer Lopez in Selena. But shes old now. I remember Farrah.in a magazine my friend snuck out from his Dad's room. Old should not be naked in a magazine.

Count me as one of those who had absolutely no clue that Leslie Nielsen did serious drama until they discovered "Forbidden Planet".

It was quite a shock for me when Leslie Nielsen did Airplane. Up until that point I would have never thought of him as a comedic actor. I remember him as the Captain of the ship Poseidon in the movie The Poseidon Adventure and he was also the Bad Guy that Barbara Streisand killed in the movie Nuts.
