After many German campaigns,i noticed that there is lack of German medals.Ritterkreutz von Hausorden for Hohenzollern missing!
It was always granted before Orden Pour Le Merite.Till summer 1918 yardstick was 15 kills and Blue Max 20.

Hello and welcome.

Yes, you are correct. The Ritterkreutz von Hausorden for Hohenzollern is missing, however for good reason. It's a Prussian medal only. WOFF and all variants presently do not account for region of the pilot, only nationality. Same for Brits being from Scotland, Ireland, or Wales (RFC/RAF). There are no Canadian or Australian based medals either.

To get the Ritterkreutz von Hausorden for Hohenzollern, you were awarded it somewhere between 15 and 22 kills. Mostly before the PLM like you mentioned. But the PLM was not automatic at 20 kills. The very best example of this would be Leutnant der Reserve Josef Mai of Jasta 5: 30 confirmed, 15 unconfirmed kills. He was nominated, but never received the PLM, or HoH. He was Austro-Hungarian. Kind-of an issue for Germans and especially Prussians, for that matter, for a non-countrymen to recieve their medals. This was the case for many pilots towards the end of the war. Too many medals and they cost too much money with a war going on. They became lower quality and were harder to achieve as the war waged on.

The Bavarians had thier own version called Militär-Max-Joseph-Orden (Ritterkreuz), which awarded the same "Ritter von" to the family name.

The Saxony and Württemberg Kingdoms did not carry similar medals or merituos recognitions.

So we decided to keep it simple, we avoided that step on the medal process.

I must beg to differ with you gentlemen, the aforementioned award is indeed in the WOFF campaign, as are various other kingdom awards such as the Albrechts Ordens 2 Klasse mit Schwertern, Friedrichs Orden 1 Klasse mit Schwertern, Militar St Heinrich Orden, Militar Max Joseph Orden, Militar-Verdienstorden 4 Klasse mit Schwertern, and more. Or are you saying the sim is no longer awarding them? If so, that is news to me.

Well, honestly, I haven't lived long enough to be awarded any of those

But I do remember we tried not to over award medals, maybe that's changed or the sim is not awarding it... Which would be an issue then

I've gotten more than 15 kills and less than 22, and did not receive a Ritter as Prussian and equivalent Bavarian. I just assumed they were not included based on conversations long ago.

Then shortly after died. So I never saw them awarded.

Have you?

Latest campaign Prussian Jasta 70:Rittmeister,45 kills.
Medals: Ehrenbecher cup,EKK1 and EKK2,then after big time,Blue Max when 40 kills credit.
Now tally is 45.Time is July 1918.

PS:agreed that there was variety when you earn PLM in WW1!

hmmm, well, I've not flown a German career for close to two years, but back when I did I was definitely awarded the Ritterkreutz von Hausorden for Hohenzollern before the PLM. IIRC it came at about 15 or so victories with the PLM coming at around 25. Also got the Albrechts Ordens 2 Klasse mit Schwertern at around 40 or so, and the Roter Adler-Orden 3 Klasse mit Krone und Schwertern at about 80, and one or two others in between. Changes in later editions of WOFF perhaps? But if so, why?

Hohenzollern award granted almost every German ace in spite of their kingdom.
Bavaria has some expections(Ritter)!

Should be WOFF handle this?
Would be easier when you fly totally your career in Prussian Jagdstaffel,you earn Hoh? if you live so long,of course!
Saxon and Wurttemberg also if WOFF not include their own medals.
Bavaria should be variety,sometimes only Bavarian medals,sometimes both.

For what it's worth gents, I distinctly remember one of my German pilots, under the casual campaigns thread, being "rittered" - so I would tend to agree with Lou (keep in mind that I was flying WOFF PE 5.03 when that happened) - I am assuming that such a thorough awards system is intact in the WOFF UE/PE era. Will have to try a campaign in BH&H2 one of these days. Relevant post available here.

Cheers (and a happy new year to all),

The PlM requirement was 20 and the HRK (Höhenzollern Ritterkreuz) was a mandatory award an airman needed to have before he would be considered for the PlM.

Great epower!
Now i have hope that i can earn medal in some campaign!

It was a Prussian medal and not necessarily mandatory for the PLM, it was just part of the path of medals. It was often awarded to officers of rank, so under officers or Non-commissioned did not normally receive it. It was given out to all regions, but was considered a Prussian honor badge. It was normal to recieve it before the PLM, but did not prequalify you. Again, these are pilots, the HoH and PLM medals were given to many other notable persons in their respective history of German medals.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_Order_of_Hohenzollern

Has a list of all Knights as well.

If it wasn't awarded to you or missed, and it's there, then it might be an issue or how WOFF decides awards. You'd have to raise an issue and ask Pol for that.

I apologize as I remember years ago that we talked about the insane number of medals the Germans had and how it needed to be limited. But I guess I was wrong as it's in there which is good!

Here's more info on the Blue Max (Pour Le Merite) and you'll see the connection between the HoH and PLM. There is also the PLM with Oak Leaves, Order of the Black Eagle and the Red Eagle. The list of German medals is massive.

I've noticed over the course of years playing OFF/WOFF that medals will get skipped if your pilot has multiple victories awarded in one day at just the "wrong" time in the algorithm. This leads me to believe that awards are presented at certain intervals based on a victory range. For example, let's say the House Order of Hohenzollern is coded to be awarded in the 14-to-16 victories range, so that if your pilot is sitting with 13 victories and is suddenly awarded four victories in one day he skips over the range and effectively misses the chance of being presented that medal. I base this theory on the fact that if my pilots progress in victories one at a time they seem, more often than not, to get every medal in the line-up that the sim has to offer. Just my own observation mind you.

Thanks Lou!

I think your argument concern just my flight career!

But i remember old Red Baron game was similar.

If you made more than four kills in your first flight,you earned EKK2 only.The game cannot handle so much victories!

That is quite easily solved programming task wink

Code
if (victoryScore >= 14 && Pilot.hohenzollernAward == FALSE )
{
      decoratePilot(hohenzollern);
      Pilot.hohenzollernAward = TRUE;
}

Stop, stop, gents. That was just a joke smile . I do not have an access to WOFF code and do not work in Visual Basic wink . Maximum I could make is to add this code to Pilot Log Editor and assign that award via PLE.
