Hello, lederhosen.
A long time ago, before the first version of BHaH came out, I figured out how to remove the artificial fog that limits the horizon, but now I'm dam*ned if I can remember how I did it! I think what you need to do is change the skyboxCloudType variable in each cloud type in the weather folder from "ThickClouds" to either "FewClouds" or "NoClouds." However, this can significantly affect the look of some clouds, particularly the thicker or cloudy cloud formations, so think twice about altering any clouds in the "Variable," "Heavy," or "Precip" weather folders.
A much easier solution is to use my cloud mod and Jara's Mission Editor. Combined, they are supposed to automatically remove the artificial fog for clear and light weather conditions, unless OBD did something in BHaH2 to stop it from working.
You may also want to contact gecko either here or at the combatace forum. He has been working on a mod that not only removes the fog but also extends the horizon distance to 50 km in clear weather!
Note: If you do remove the fog, you may also have to adjust the compositescenerybudgets.xml file or use the "Blue Triangles" mod to adjust the display of distant scenery and objects without bogging down your system.
Good luck and welcome back to the unfriendly skies!
