Does anyone watch these regularly? I have a few reactors that I subscribe to, mainly because not only do they have what I think are honest reactions but they don’t do the same songs as everyone else. NicknLex are probably my favorites, because they tend to pick the songs farthest from the top 40 hits or most overplayed. Here they are getting an Introduction to Chicago. What a way to start!

I usually don't like these kinds of videos but there is one of a young lady reacting to Copperhead Road who seemed to really enjoy it and she's quite bright and expressive. I also saw a young couple watching Johnny Cash's Hurt video and they were genuinely moved by it. Like you mentioned, there are many who seem to go for whatever the popular thing is at the moment. I enjoy it when folks are actually attentive to and listen to the music or song being played and you can tell they are actually ruminating about the words and/or appreciating the musical talent involved.

I like how they analyse the voice and tell you what they are doing to produce their vocals, something I'd never really thought about before.

I loathe any and all "reaction videos" whether it be for music, movies, tv, etc. Not only are the great majority of them contrived but I really couldn't care less if some current day elementary school kids listen to something from the Beatles and think it's fantastic or they think it's the worst thing ever. I find that these reaction videos mostly appeal to people who watch reality shows and/or talent shows.

I’ve found that people who react to music that requires some work on the part of the listener - Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Rush, etc - tend to have more honest or spontaneous reactions. You can see if/when the light comes on.
