Thanks, Hellshade.

Super stuff thanks Hellshade. We need Peter Jackson or someone to collate all the clips of WW1 aircraft and do some magic to bring it to life more for the younger generations.

Thanks Hellshade!

What always impresses me about these now ancient films is the complete and utter lack of safety as compared to modern standards. Stacking bombs on a wheel barrow, tight ground formations with engines running and personnel still moving about... all the things that you see slowly became what we now know as Modern Aviation. It's amazing to see all of it!

And of course... how the hell did those two German pilots survive those crashes!! Rule to the wise, tight flat spins and keep her level. She looses vertical velocity and lands like a heavy leaf. You'll be puking for days from the spinning, but at least you'll be puking and not pushing daisy's!!

The Black Baron of Boistrancourt returns!!

Most excellent! Loved the SE5a stuff! Quentin Roosevelt in a Camel though?

The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

Yeah, usually best to just ignore the narrative on these sorts of productions lol
Cheers,

that second video has some great footage in it. love the hand toss bombs on the german two seater..

but anyone else notice at about the 4 minute mark on that second movie, the german fighter with the black skull with white outline? ive seen his plane on box art and decal sheets..

as far as safety goes, they new it was a 1 in 4 chance of getting home

1. die on takeoff
2.die during the flight from engine issues
3. die from combat, enemy fighters or ack ack
4. die on landing.. stupid gopher holes..
