Sandbagger will be posting the re-release of all three Jerbear skin Mods shortly.

There are a number of changes to skin in the first 3 packs, contained in User Skins by Jerbear, which now contains 628 skins. These do not replace any WOFF Skin Pack skins

More Skins by Jerbear now has Pack 4 and Pack 5 totaling 354 skins. These do not replace WOFF Skin Pack skins

The Alternative Skin Mod has a number of new additions and some redesigned skins. It now contains 166 skins. A few of these are personal skins but the vast majority are replacements. These were done because new information has become available since the WOFF Skin Pack was first done in 2013 or earlier.
The reasons and sources for each individual Alternate and user skin can be found in their respective ReadMe word files.

The changes made in the earlier Mods were due to my finally figuring out how to make a diagonal, Bavarian Rauten fuselage band work so I changed most of those. Some of these are shown in the screenshots.

Enjoy

Jerbear

These two are older skins that were redone to improve the Bavarian fuselage bands. Both are Max Gossner in Jasta 23 and 77b. The Jasta 77b skin is in the Alternate pack and the black tailed Jasta 23 is from Pack 2.

So, as always I seem to be confused Jerbear. I now have skin pack 1, 2 and 3 by Jerbear installed with JSGME. Do I download the 3 new files, WOFF User Skins (Version 5.0), WOFF Alternative Skins (Version 5.0) and WOFF More Skins (Version 2.0) and uninstall the other 3 skin packs from JSGME and only use these 3 new files, or do I simply install these 3 new files listed above along with the 3 older Jerbear skin packs I already have installed?

TWK - the green and white are from Jasta 72s, Carl Menckhoff's boys you can find information on their source in the ReadMe. There is also an Alternate Menckhoff DVa in the new version of the Alternates based on these sources.

Blade - you should download all three new version Mods. They should replace the existing versions without you having to remove them. Their might be some sort of message from the installer saying that it is replacing certain items in the Mod, but probably not.

Enjoy

Good unit to fly with TWK - How about sharing some screenies. I seldom see anyone using my skins. Be sure to dowload the Alternatives, there is a new Menckhoff (spelled right this time) Albatros in there

JerB,

Love the new skins... I mean they really bring more life to the game. At this point, these should be added into the main skin pack of the game as they are almost essential to give more life to the skis, rather than an add-on.

One thing,,, i found some of the skins need a re-visit. The right side graphic on a few skins is not reversed in the skin, which as you know in the game will not be flipped. A Fokker D.VII from Jasta 27 (forgot the pilot as I'm at work) that has red and white stripes on the wing top and fuselage. You just need to swap the right side to the opposite direction. There is another skins with swastikas on it in jasta 24? All swastikas and and other mirrored graphic can't be in the same direction in the skin. They will be reversed in the game. They need to be reversed in the skin so they are the same in the game.

Really happy to see all of Jasta 20 in proper light blue with all marking and some pilots with red and other colors that we always assumed was black from the photos. Just looks so much better now.

Best,

OvS

Hello OvS

Always good to hear from you. Thanks for the 2nd pair or eyeballs, I always appreciate a little proof reading.

I haven't done any Jasta 24 skins, I'll look that one up in my files to see which one has the unreversed swastika and get it fixed.

The Jasta 27 skin though is Friedrich Theodor Noltenius. The photos of this machine after capture show both sides and this orientation is correct. Maybe his riggers got confused when THEY were doing his skin, happens, hard to get good help.

The Light Blue is a Jasta 57 and is pretty much just a 1918 rework of you own 1917 DIIIOAW as BH&H2 now has them flying the OAW well into 1918 with no skins for that period. The style of the 1918 markings are from photos. The colors are partly from a letter from Paul Strahl, in the Cross and Cockade and your color choices for the ace skins.

I did light blue versions of your Jasta 20 DIII early some time ago but they are in the Alternate Pack where people can more easily see them and opt out of the change if they prefer your original version, light blue is most likely according to Shredward and I agree with him but this old film can really throw you. Maybe someone like the god Bruno Schmaling will one day throw some light on the subject from his interviews. He interviewed Heinz Geiseler who spent Nov 16 to July 17 in Jasta 20 back in the 1970s.

As to adding the skins to the main pack, I don't think OBD is that keen on the idea. We spoke about it again a month or so back but I didn't hear anything back from them to go ahead or not. Focused on WOTR right now, maybe they'll get back to me after that's reworked.

Best back

JerBear

Really?!?! Hahahaha... it was backwards in reality? That's hysterical! It just looks odd.

I'll trawl through as soon as I can. Been very busy around the house getting ready for Christmas and all that. But I really want to get some flying time in soon. As it gets colder, I hybernate when I'm home. I work outside as it is..so my days off are spent thawing out. Lol.

After all the years I put into making skins, I've come to realize that it's a very good idea to bring in new blood and new eyes. You have good sources and good information. The skins look very good as compared to when you started this project... so if it adds to the depth and the complexity, I would love to see them as part of the base.

What you definately should do is make sure your packs are compressed into bigger, single loads. Having 5 packs and all is becoming confusing for the users. Keep it simple. Pick for the user... make your skins historical and correct so the users don't have to worry which skins is correct. It's there for them.

As for Jasta 20... you can over-ride the all-brown Albs D.III series. All of them. I don't think I had that right from day 1. I based that color scheme on the later Fokker D.VII colors being all brown and colored noses. We had very limited info and simply had to make things work to fill holes. Now that there is so much more out there, and they're figuring out what the actual colors are... I strongly prefer them to be correct in the game. You have my permission to do so.

Best,

James

I appreciate the advice and your permission on the J. 20 skins. I will certainly not override anything previously done without good reason. The J 20 skins will stay in the Alternatives though. I put any changes to an existing skin in there so the users can be more aware of them and decide for themselves.

I know the number of packs is getting to be a little confusing. A part of the reason for this is computer capacity. When the file gets to a certain size I get an error message that says I don't have enough room in my temp files and the script writer won't finish compiling.

At some point there will have to be some sort of reorganization, especially if the Devs decide to take some of the skins.

Here's something new I was reworking. Couldn't make it exactly like the actual aircraft because of the difficulties with the aft section of the fuselage, but it's close enough for horse shoes.

Stay warm

Jb
