Anyone here play this?
I just recently played through the introductory tutorials a couple of times so I'll be playing my first "historical mission" soon. So far I like it but man, this game is really deep! I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in WWII ground combat on the Eastern Front but you also need to put some serious learning time into it as well. This is by no means a "casual" game.

I tried playing "War In The East"and spent a month lost in space with that.I'd be curious to hear if SD2 is a bit lighter.Right now I'm just playing Unity of Command 2.I have a friend who has it and wants to uninstall it and give it to me.Is that legal??
I've played it for a bit earlier this year. Tactical battles were much too fast for me and the only way I could play this game was with a mod that slowed things down. I don't know if it still works with recent updates. With movement slowed down, however, I found it very enjoyable and even found myself thinking "why can't Graviteam games be controlled like this" (excuse the blasphemy ). Ultimately, however, the fact that you cannot really form platoons/companies during tactical battles is what turned me away.

Personally I don't have an issue with the pace of the tactical battles since there is a pause feature. If there was no pause function though I could easily see myself being overwhelmed playing one of the larger historical battles.

Johan where can I find the mod that slows battles down?
The one I used is called ShatrasGamePlayMod2LITE on Steam workshop. There may be others, but this one looks like it is still up-to-date. Note that it does change a few other things.

Haha, everything is lighter than WitE!
Steel Division is one I've had my eye on since it was announced, I talked about the things that held me off in a different thread. But I'd be interested to hear more if you get deeper in to it PM.
No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Sounds good. I'm currently now watching the tutorial videos after I finished playing the 4 in-game tutorials. One of the tutorial videos is 48 minutes long. Yeah, this game is quite deep.

I will say this game is DEEP. Between the complexity of the orders you can assign as well as the complexity of how the units interact with each other on the battlefield, it can be a bit overwhelming at times. I use the pause function a LOT in this game. This game really does require a pretty big time commitment if you want to be a competent player.
Having said that, if you are a fan of WWII ground combat on the Eastern Front this is a must-buy.

^ Yeah I agree, along with Wargame Red Dragon, there deep games that need time to master.
But at this price, one can´t argue that you get more then you´re dinero´s worth! What I think is cool about this second Instalment is the Army General mode, which is almost as playing a traditional tabletop wargame. I look forward on trying out this game mode, but to my surprise, there´s also a Army General co-op mode now! All in all well worth the asking price IMHO.
