30th October2021 Map Screens

Our first theatre was the Carrier Air War theatre flying a ground-started sweep with four bases used:

I was in the single blue plane, CaptJ and ShoGun were in the other blue planes

Our second was in Finnish Air War flying a ground-started intercept:

Once again four bases were used, two Allied with the enemy bombers taking off from one base and their escorts from another one nearby.

My last theatre was Moggy's Iraq:

Another ground-started intercept with the picture being taken a few minutes into the mission.
The enemy bombers and escorts were still joining up, whilst we were well on our way to intercept them from our separate bases.

On these maps each circle is a tile which is effectively a 4 km square.
It does not look pretty, but it is ideal for estimating bearings and distances wink

To be honest this is a host only re-run of one of our favourites, an intercept of Betties in MB3s flying from the Vic.
I needed to test a new plane-set so I used this script with it.

The carriers in "SPAW2019FinalCut" have a lot of extra deck objects, so they make interesting extra targets.
The Betties have to fly from a land base, but their escorts fly from a nearby carrier, the IJN Taiho.

The escorts leave the carrier and fly to rendezvous with the Betties. Even though this is an intercept we take bombs and attack the unprotected carrier.

I destroyed their base smile

Then we flew off to intercept the Betties.

There they are:

I switched on wing leveller and took the next screenies on F9

The debriefing screen shows what I damaged on the IJN Taiho:

Two of them made it back only to be destroyed in a strafing attack after all the bombers were destroyed:

There was damage to other ships too wink
