Outstanding! OBD is the best, bar none.

Nice one guys. Downloaded and just about to give it a try.

"A great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting its ability to fly. Wings and fuselage could be—and often were—pierced in 50 places, missing the occupants by inches (blissfully unaware of how close it had come until they returned to base). Then the sailmaker would carefully cover each hole with a square inch of Irish linen frayed at the edges and with a brushful of dope make our aircraft 'serviceable' again within an hour."

Hallo @Pol,

super!!
A short question:
The default settings for Terrain Quality and the Scenery Density were "3" and "3" before 1.17., and this was a good (the best!) base indeed.
Now tthe settings are "2" and "4". Are they the new recommended base now or more start-settings for tests / tries?

Thanks for answer and Greetings!

They are reset to 'Terrain Quality 2' and 'Scenery Density 4' respectively when the patch installs.

You should of course find the settings that suit your PC from there - as with any game : - based on the 'eye candy you want' vs FPS

Do not strive for 5s - its not a race.

In your case I would Try 2 for Terrain Quality and 3 For Scenery Density

Cheers lads, brilliant stuff cheers
Quick heads up..Dont forget to disable any mods before installing the patch, then reinstall them afterwards ( I've learnt the hard way in the past duh )

It seems you are right. My first tests with my older system have the best results with this setting, so far.

Greetings

Good advice and also be wary of just re-enabling mods after patching as some of the files in these mods may have been superseded/improved/redone by work contained in the patch.
Best to check with the modders.

The patch release notes help in this regard of course by telling you what has been recently done by OBD!

Brief update from my end that patch 1.17 works fine on (Intel) Macs too, both in WineSkin (Classic) and also on the Bootcamp side in Win10 - patches tested in WineSkin and Bootcamp are 1.06, 1.07, 1.12, 1.13, 1.14, 1.16 and 1.17. Other patches not tested on the (Intel) Mac. Mac-Intel WOFFers are recommended to upgrade to 1.17 since the patch works fine.

Cheers all,
Von S smile2

EDIT: Those interested in creating a customized tweak of the ver. 2.0 4L0M cloud package that works well with patch 1.17 (and later) of BH&H2 are recommended to check over the relevant info. under this post.

~ For my various FM/AI/FPS/DM Mods. for First Eagles 2, WoFF, RoF & WoTR, and tips for FlightGear, recommended is to check over my CombatAce profile (https://combatace.com/profile/86760-vons/) and to click on the "About Me" tab while there. ~

Thanks for the update.

In the highest setting (all 5's) the trees look flat. However, it is better than the default (4 and 2) setting where there is less ground detail (pic on the right). Also, I get only a 5 FPS difference between the default and highest setting.

But both look much better than any previous version.

Thanks for the pics orbyxP. The first pic the sun / shadow is at a totally different angle which causes the trees to shadow each other, that may be creating that effect. Try again with the same time of day for each and see.

I just tried it here Verdun, Avillers-Ste-Croix which has a nice bunch of mixed trees, same time of day (Spring 9am), various settings 2,4,5 and can't see a difference in roundness.

I tried it again and noticed that it only appears at certain viewing angles. So, in the pic above on the left, only the trees in the top row along the house line appear flat while the rest of the trees in the pic are round. Maybe if it would be possible that the tree models that are next to each other were slightly rotated, they wouldn't cast any shadows?
