I only live half an hour away from the Med, so I visit it often wink

However, what I am referring to is the Desert Air War theatre.
Targets are spread out apart from the region where they are highly concentrated, so it is not "multiplayer friendly", and I have actually flown from very few of the ones that are far apart..

So I have converted it to a multiplayer theatre by editing the front line.

You can see several pairs of bases which are close to one another but of opposite sides if the front line.
Some are very close and contact with the enemy is made within a few minutes. Others are further apart and take a little longer- pilots can turn on wing leveller and go off to make a coffee wink
The pairs are quite well spread through the whole region, so you get to fly in a number of different locations smile

I have made several scripts already, which have worked well in "host only" tests, and we will be trying them our at GameRanger soon smile

Testing at GameRanger last night:

We flew several different scripts for the new theatre and they all worked well

I set up a new mission involving the four bases in the circle near the top:

I am really enjoying seeing the scenery in these very different parts of the Mediterranean smile

With changing front-lines to make them multiplayer friendly the need for a frontline switcher became obvious, so I have tailor made one wink

[Linked Image]

The mission editor needs the "tarnames.str", "targets.dat", "airfield.dat" and "frntline.dat" files to be in the theatre folder.
When the switcher runs it checks all of the folders in the root folder and if the four files are there it adds a "Frontlines" folder if there is none.
So after the first run every theatre folder has an empty "Frontlines" folder in it.
I had three front-lines for the "Desert Air War MP" theatre so I put them in the "Frontlines" folder for that theatre.
When I ran the switcher again it checked all the "Frontlines" folders and listed the theatre folders which had one with files in it.
In my case there was just the "Desert Air War MP" folder, so that was the only one listed.
The files in the folder are listed for selection.
If one is selected it is copied and pasted as "frntline.dat" in the theatre folder, and the name of the selected one it put into a "CurrentFL" file.
That file is read an the name shown as the current file.

This allows me to load the appropriate front-line before using the mission editor wink
I made a new version of the mission editor today which saves the name of the loaded front-line (if any) in the script.
That means that when I load the script for a game I can pick the appropriate front-line if necessary.

Now that this is up and running I can make more front lines smile

wink Jel
