These photos from 1858 never cease to amaze me. You can just see the pride exuding from some of these French veterans of the Napoleonic Wars. These guys LIVED major world historical events first hand.

Some may say those were France glorious days, some may not. No matter what, proud old warriors in their uniforms.
If you ever have a chance visiting France, don’t forget a trip along the “route Napoleon” in Southern France starting on the French Riviera and finding its ways along the Alps, simply follow the Imperial Eagle statues :-P
A 100 days. Disembarking from Elba, to Waterloo and Pax Britannica.
