I must admit I have some reservations about this but at least JMS is in charge so hopefully this will be a worthy effort.

NO!

Wait...

JMS is in charge?

Hmmmmmmmmm... Interesting.

But how? So much of the original cast is irreplaceable. Londo, G'Kar, Vir, Garibaldi, Delenn, Lennier, Sheridan--almost all of them. I see this as very hard to to improve upon without them.

Another concern of mine is that this will be on the CW network.

I don't think JMS will go this route but if Babylon 5 turns into a teen/young adult drama I'm out of there. Goodbye.

It's CW, they don't allow anything but that on the air.

Yeah, I don't know what to think. JMS being the show-runner is the only thing that provides some potential.

In reading the article, they referenced the cast of the previous show, and it is a little depressing:

Bruce Boxleitner
Michael O’Hare - Dead
Claudia Christian
Jerry Doyle - Dead
Mira Furlan - Dead
Richard Biggs - Dead
Andrea Thompson
Bill Mumy
Jason Carter
Tracy Scoggins
Stephen Furst - Dead
Patricia Tallman
Peter Jurasik
Andreas Katsulas - Dead
Jeff Conaway - Dead
Robert Rusler

For a series that only ended its original TV run 23 years ago that is truly an inordinate amount of cast members who have died.

Saw this on YouTube, and it is a little more info, but also some conjecture.

OMG! I would love to see this show rebooted since I always hear how the entire show arc is so good. Thanks for the post!

You're welcome but I will also try my best to take a "wait and see" attitude because projects like these never see the light of day quite often. Right now all that is confirmed is that WB has agreed to check out what JMS is proposing to do with a B5 "reboot".

I follow JMS's page on Facebook and here is the latest update from him which came out yesterday:

"Today, about an hour ago, Deadline Hollywood announced the slate of pilot scripts being picked up for production by the CW. Babylon 5 was not on that list. However, shortly before that piece was published, I received a call from Mark Pedowitz, President of the CW. Calling the pilot a damned fine script he said he was taking the highly unusual step of rolling the project and the pilot script into next year, keeping B5 in active development while the dust settles on the sale of the CW."

wont happen,to many white charecters..

Wont be right to see the dead actors replaced, and far to many will end up like what happened in the lord of the rings tv show..

most will become non heterosexual and we will now see episodes of "discovering same sex romance deep in space"

Maybe, maybe not. I'll keep an open mind about it but all of this most likely will be a moot point anyway. The CW Network didn't pick up the show last year and while it MAY pick it up this year I highly doubt it. JMS has been shopping around either a continuation of Babylon 5 or a reboot for over 20 years now with no luck.

I'd say good riddance if CW doesn't pick it up. Babylon 5 on CW doesn't sound like a good combo. They'd probably cast a bunch of kids who look like they're 17 and make it an overtly dramatic teen soap like they do with most of their shows.
