I am looking forward to DCS Apache mdwa, it looks amazing! But, I've never really gotten DCS off the ground here. I need a new rig to run it. I just need to make the time to order it.

Great pictures. I always loved the Longbow series. They had great atmosphere. The intro to Longbow Gold thrilled me when I first played it as a teenager. They knew how to set the tone for what was to follow. I also really enjoyed the voice instructor for the tutorial missions.

Ohh yeah! The Longbow series! I'm a big fan of those old classics, although I'm working on a pit for more modern sims like DCS, I still love to play those old simulations.

They had something the new generation was never able to bring across - the atmosphere.

I have two extra built machines, one running Win98SE with an AMD K6 400, a Geforce 256 DDR and a Voodoo I and a second one running WinME and XP with an AMD Athlon II 3Ghz, a Geforce 5950 Ultra and two Voodoo II in SLI for retro simming. Don't know if it's just the memory of the good old times or were those old simulation titles really better in bringing you an impression of being at the battlefield.

If I had to choose between my pit with it's new hardware and my retro rig unit, I really don't know if I would go for the new stuff. I simply still love those old titles, like the whole Jane's series, the Novalogic sims (Comanche Gold, Armored Fist, ...) or even the stuff from the stoneage, like Microprose Fleetdefender, F-15 SEIII, Gunship 2000 etc.

That's the reason I'm now building a so called "command unit" beside my pit for more strategic simulations and particularly to be able to play those old classics again with the right stuff in the right environment.
