Do tell.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

I *upgraded* to a 2015 Ultra Limited. It has the Rushmore cooled-heads. It was important to have yesterday, as I got stuck in a 3 HOUR traffic jam going home. (Usually takes 40 minutes)
I was so ready to get off the bike after riding 25 feet per minute. By the time I reached the 3 hour mark, the oil pressure light came on. Harleys are oil-cooled, and the oil had become so thin from idling for 2 hours that the pressure dropped to 2 psi.
Great. Thankfully, I only had to nurse it along for another 10 minutes...

On happier news, I leave tomorrow morning to ride the Arkansas Ozark Mountains for the weekend!!!

Thanks for asking.

Good to hear from you Bill. I've heard that Dallas commuter traffic can be really bad even when there are no accidents.

We named the bike "El Diablo" because with my all black bike, and red-lensed sunglasses, my riding buddy said that he felt "the Devil is chasing me!" biggrin

The problem is the Lake. You really have only 3 ways to get to Rockwall from Dallas.
That main route that bisects the lake is Interstate 30. It is 4 lanes both directions. All the traffic moving from Dallas to Louisiana goes through here. An accident here (where I made the red squiggle) stacks up EVERYTHING.
So I came down from the north, got to I 30. The blue line is the 'alternate' path I took home. That took 2 hours. Normally, that takes about 20 minutes to go that path. From the red Squiggle (the accident) to my house takes 5 minutes.
Thankfully this happens only a few times a year....

"The Devil Came Down to Texas". Isn't that the name of a popular song? wink

edit: Thanks for that annotated map Bill. It really explains it well.

That sucks Bill!

Sounds like a rough commute for sure. Commuting on a bike was a love/hate thing for me.

Here's the last street bike I owned for the purpose of commuting to SF and bypassing the $200 a month parking fee for cars:

[Linked Image]

If you really want to suck the fun out of riding...commute to downtown SF and back everyday at rush hour. I did it for a year then sold the bike...I had enough. Close calls from distracted drivers...etc.

I switched to racing motocross to get my 2 wheel fix in...it's safer! LOL

Be careful out there Bill...my 883 sporty was pretty nimble for traffic and lane splitting(legal here in CA)...that full dresser you're on can make it difficult at busy traffic times!

It's nice you're getting a good pleasure ride coming up...enjoy and be safe! wink

Arrrgh; flashbacks of being stuck in London traffic on my Ultra during a Tube strike on a hot summer's day (we do have ''em occasionally!) and having the same dilemma of zero oil pressure.

Nice bike Mr. Grant!

Well Bill; you know I was never a fan of the Winnebago bikes. 😀 I liked them basic. But I can see the appeal if you are riding distance in traffic everyday. Does the wife ride with you on it ?

By European Definitions, that's a Truck, not a Bike wink

But... a very pretty Truck, I have to admit wink

Is bypassing standing columns still a thing with so wide a bike, I guess your lanes might just be spaced further apart.

Typical lane width is 3m.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

We left last Friday and did 1000 miles on the bikes getting to and around the Ozark Mountains of AR. Had a flat on the car the girls were in, so had to stay overnight in Mena AR (Home of the drug smuggler pilot in American Made)

While we were 'stuck' there, we went out on the Tahlimena Trail and I took this picture.

Wow, 1000 miles on a bike - I don't think I could ride for that long and be comfortable. It would be difficult enough in a car smile.

Nice photo! Be safe!
