It has been quite some time since I went to sell something on eBay.
First I noticed they eliminated PayPal. Every thing is done through eBay. You would think, "oh good, I save PayPal fees".
No eBay increased their fees.
But the real deal breaker was, if you sell an item, the buyers payment is on hold until they receive the item, and state they are satisfied.
#%&*$# that. I'm not using my own money to ship something, only to have somebody say they were not satisfied.

Been a long time since I used Ebay. I got stuff there I could only find on Ebay. However, I never sold anything on it. I guess as an occasional buyer it's still a viable option though, going by what you wrote.

Yeah, I will still use as a buyer, but not a seller. Those are ridiculous rules.

Been a member since 2003. My purchases have trailed off quite a bit in the last few years. Amazon usually has what I need, and 2 day shipping.
I have never sold via Amazon though. I'll continue to use Kijiji to sell things.

Bingo. As Amazon's star rose, Ebay's star dropped. What you just described also applies to millions of other consumers.

I sell stuff on eBay sometimes. Their fees have gone up a bit - but I appreciate they don't go thru PayPal anymore. Now funds, minus the eBay fees and shipping label costs, get deposited directly into my bank account. Also, if you are a "vetted" seller, you get your cash before the item arrives at the buyer's home. But you have to go through a couple of sells before that happens. Usually, I get my money a day after I ship the item out.

I can completely understand the vetting requirement. I'm sure many buyers have been burned on EBay.

I have been a member since 2003, well over 300 transactions, with a %100 rating. I should not have to be vetted at this point.

HAD a 100% rating
I just went on to Ebay and gave you a bad review.

Impossible to give me a review without buying something from me, or selling me something. Besides, how did you get my eBay handle ?
Hardly a mic drop.

I stopped using eBay once they simply became another retail outlet. Where you once could find something for under store prices, that ended.
Now, its overpriced goods that take forever to ship. There are better alternatives available now.

You make excellent points across the board. Simply put, Ebay was a new innovative thing when it first came out but now it no longer differentiates itself from the competition.

Even with their anti firearms stance there is still no better place to find ww2 and before surplus firearms parts than ebay. Believe me I've looked long and hard.

Good place to buy rare items. Not so great for selling.
