Platoon Leader, a low budget attempt to cash in on the Vietnam movie wave of the late '80s, loosely based on a true story.
Sgt Roach was the man!

Thanks. I didn't think anyone would agree with any of my choices.
I'm a sucker for a good 70's/80's soundtrack, regardless of how cringey or campy the movie might be ("Maximum Overdrive" comes to mind). Plus a lot of these movies are romantically nostalgic to me, as a gangly teen being introduced to them on my girlfriend's (now wife) cable or Betamax in her family's small cozy dimly-lit living room on a Friday/Saturday evening.

After mentioning Point Break and Gary Busey, I was reminded of «Under Siege» with Steven Seagal. Had to rewatch it. Another good-bad movie!
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Two great examples of this for me are "Flight of the Intruder" and "Der Rote Baron". Both have horrible scripts and dialogue but they also have some fun to watch aerial combat scenes.

I loved the book Flight of the Intruder. I was seriously disappointed by the movie. That might be a good idea for a new thread. What movies were a big disappointment to you after having read the book?. My guess is that would be a long list.
