my keyboard has started random events where nothing shows on the computer monitor when I type on the keyboard. i have unplugged it from the usb port and plugging it back in which fixes the problem for a while, it started after a big windows update.

Yeah, auto updates are becoming questionable at best.

Mine was doing this after I spilt dinner juice on it while skyping. It worked for a half hour then started shorting out and repeating keypresses. I then proceeded to implement the "pound the crap out of it" method of repair, sending many keys flying through the air and across the room. A few days later I plugged it in and it worked fine again and was able to find all but one key... Where the "home" key is remains a mystery. I was a bit sad because I really liked that keyboard, almost nine years old, and worked otherwise fine save for random glitches here or there.
I bought a new mechanical keyboard.
You should probably not try and repair yours as I did mine.

Sounds like it has COVID.

What the heck is "dinner juice"? Heh heh heh. That could absolutely be construed as something of the... saucy variety. Alas, the juices weren't risque in nature. I had a plate of red beans and rice with kielbasa and a large side of peas and held it up to the camera so my daughter could see what I was eating for dinner. There, I made a mistake and tilted the plate a bit too much and the "dinner juices" trickled off onto the keyboard below. I thought they had only wet the corner, but as I found out shortly thereafter they had doused portions of the mainboard below the keys. Interesting that it worked fine a few days later. Seems the table salt mixed in with the fluids transitioned back to insulator as the liquid dried. I still haven't found the home key.
