Even though it's got bugs and there are hackers in the multiplayer that cheat and I hate Steam.

Arma 3 has Genheli600 from RTdynamics of Germany with optional legit AFCS intermediary 'autotrim' for pressure/spring-loaded joysticks.

Buy full Arma 3 for 40 something bucks now on Steam. Do it! Do it now!

The term "necroposting" was invented by a person with no social memory beyond a year. People with a similar hangup are those o.k. with the internet being transient vapor.

I been playing Arma since Operation flashpoint one, followed by Arma 1, 2 and 3. Played in many realism clans as mostly a helicopter transport pilot and some CAS support. I can tell you that Arma has a really crummy flight model. So crummy that even serious people who use a HOTAS and fly in DCS, etc, toss the HOTAS in Arma and use a mouse.Even Dslyecxi who is a long time Arma pilot, has posted an Arma youtube video blog of his clans battles for probably a decade, and has flown helicopters in RL, ended up using a mouse.

That's some indication of how bad the flight model is. I have flown a lot in it using both an x52 pro and an x56 over many years, and there is a lot of lag in control response because Arma was never really intended as a serious flight sim, it really shines as an infantry sim at its core. I am not saying flying isn't fun in it, but it is no where near as accurate as DCS and a lot of far older helicopter sims.

It's certainly not X-Plane11, but Arma 3's Advanced Flight Model setting is even better than Janes Longbow Anthology and comparable to EECH 1.16.2 with PPJoy & GlovePIE running. From the RTDynamics documentation it appears to be a C++ mimic of the FORTRAN Sikorsky & Ames Research GenHel flight model and even with Blade Element Theory stuff for the main rotors. You get not only the optional AFCS 'digital FBW' mode, but manual force trim set, release, and the ability to assign a trimmer hat. If this Dslyecxi guy is using a mouse and keyboard, then he's part of the problem with people not treating the Arma 3 helo AFM properly. Bohemia actually needs to completely remove the simple/standard flight model entirely from Arma 3. That's the garbage one that people are farting around with a keyboard and mouse with. Now, this isn't getting into the atrocious weapon system implementation in the aircraft. Those are horrible. People think Gunship! had weird weapons implementation, then they've seen nothing until Arma's aircraft. The visibility out the cockpit also isn't great, and there's no native VR support inexplicably. BI can certainly improve things. As far as 'lag', the AutoTrim has noticeable lag in the same way that X-Plane's ArtStab will if you set it up to do what GenHeli600's AutoTrim is doing as a full AFCS intermediary filtering every input you make and modifying it with feed forwards and feed backs. The only way you get X-Plane's ArtStab not to have added lag is by having it sit to the side of your controls, so to speak, complimenting stability but not filtering every input. Usually that's how people use ArtStab, as a compliment and not a full intermediary in X-Plane. But you can set it up the other way, too. GenHeli600 doesn't require you to turn AutoTrim on, though.

I just wish there was something that looks like EECH campaigns to play solo in arma.
