Haven't seen anything posted about this, and just because I think it's important not to forget, I wanted to make mention of it as it still is on my mind, especially since it is 20 years ago already...hard to believe...

I'm sure we all remember where we were and what we were doing when it happened. In some cases, more than most.

Just remembering, reminiscing...

The world changed.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Sevenoaks, England.
There have been a lot of 9/11 documentaries and news on here in England, not much has stuck with me like that day, I was thousands of miles away but that day changed me and those around me, I don't think any one with any empathy will forget where they were or what happened that day, it was truly horrendous.

I still tear up when I watch what happened, the horror, the heroism and the unknown of what was to come.

That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead?
Well I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick.
Yes, don't get clever with me Baldrick. I just thought you might have lopped off a leg or something by mistake.
No, the thing I chopped off had a nose.

20 years and considering very recent events ZERO lessons learned. I’ll leave it at that.

I still get angry when ever I watch videos from that day. It seems like we as a nation have been slowly bleeding out a little each day ever since. In many ways, I think those #%&*$# that did it were actually pretty successful in their idea of this being the outcome. The recent events of the last few weeks haven't helped lessen that feeling. I'll just shut up now. Sorry if I started towards PWEC.

The most successful economy of force action that I know of in history.

I was running the ranges, qualifying troops who were about to deploy... I was just getting the troops unloaded and cleared, ready for lunch when on my radio I heard this running commentary on what was happening at the twin towers... We had an Aussie Sgt who was doing an exchange tour with us (Murph) back in the admin area who had heard what was going on and was relaying through the radio to me.
At first I thought it was a drama programme I was listening to as it was so incredulous, but when I realised this was happening 'now'... I doubled the troops back to the admin area and got the full picture from Murph.
We all huddled around the radio listening in shock.

After lunch break I got the troops together and told them if they hadn't realised it already, the world as we know it had just changed... things would never be the same again, and that they will remember this day for the rest of their lives... and so it was.

I was actually waiting in a meeting room for the rest of the members to turn up. One guy turned up to collect something or other, I asked him what was the hold up. He didn't make any comment on what was happening in NY, but he did say "Your wife rang". I asked what she wanted, and he said "She said two planes have flown into the twin towers in New York and one of them fell down".

Then he left the room, with me trying to make some sense of that.
