Here we are, dear friends, I thought of meeting you in a group to exchange opinions and suggestions.
We are investigating whether or not it is possible to save John's titanic work to make it available to the many who still seem to appreciate its depth and disenchantment.
All of us have always had a passion for the history of the military use of aircraft and the SF world has presented itself as the main theater for our interests that generally go beyond the last 20/25 years: se have always been interested in the period commonly known as Cold War Era.
In that period, in addition to the planetary clash between the two blocks, a clash materialized on the one hand in the titanic "Moon Race" and on the other in the development of weapons of all kinds for supremacy in the hope of never seeing the day of use.
In all this, in a world that through artistic / literary youth movements was slowly moving towards the repudiation of war as an instrument for resolving disputes through youth protest, the American youth found themselves dealing with their own souls "raised" as carriers and defenders of freedom soon became invaders and oppressors, an infamy that burned a generation of young people who found themselves fighting with dishonor a long and soon unpopular "dirty" war, a source of embarrassment for at least two presidential administrations.
The Vietnam War.
Nonetheless they fought and the nation nevertheless generated a quantity of tactics, techniques and means of warfare such as to ferry the arsenals from a type of weaponry that was after all just post-war to increasingly targeted and "intelligent" weapons, the war culminated in a hasty disengagement making the sacrifices of all who participated in it were in vain.
This page of history was represented by the work of John who had no qualms to express himself critically on what was done there and thanks to the attention he put into the construction of his missions he created a real history book to fly ...

So of you're interested in the project stay on track in the SF2 forum to follow the developement of the project.
We will Need you as tester to find out issues and so on.

Some will disagree with your take on Viet Nam, not really a good way to recruit.

Not only is this a very biased and opinion-heavy statement but what relevance does this even have with a Vietnam flight sim? Just stick to making a great game and leave the political commentary out of it.

Those screenshots look great! It's been too long since I've flown a Vietnam-era flight sim.

Ah Sorry I'm not interested but if you want some constructive input I would suggest you either are not offered a good translation from Italian to english or possibly vietnamese to english?
because your introduction and attempt to produce interest, to wit;

Sorry but it is my opinion that it is "all over the place" as we say (not a good thing) and really "falls flat on its face". So I would suggest first another PR person or translator and some real thought about targeting of who/ what exactly you hope to attract to the Sim.

Excellent post FsFoot. I do think this could very well be an example of "lost in translation".

After a few Navy missions we are restoring an USAF sortie called "Photo Recon" with the magnificent RF-101C Voodoo: look at the new cockpit and LA-313 Optical Viewfinder display!

The other pictures are from parked planes and objects in the same mission.

Dear Friends, here are some comparative pictures which will show, better than words, the reasons why we are working on this conversion project.

If you like to find out more or to collaborate with the project, please join the group on FaceBook: YAP_Revamp_Group. Thanks.

Besides restoring old missions, skins, and terrains we are also thinking to replace some really dated stock ground objects and also introduce some brand new tanks.

Here are some pictures of the M53 Self Propelled Gun and M55 Self Propelled Howitzer by Maurizio Maurizio Olmi, tested on the battlefield.

This is for the chopper lovers!

We are thinking about separate the helos missions from the ones with aircrafts, in order to have a dedicated set. Flying a helicopter in YAP requires skill and training, but its really satisfying.

Here are some pictures from the first helo mission, "Song Be" with the amazing UH-1B Gunship.

A few pictures from newcoming restored missions: "Pierce Arrow Attack & BDA".

Today we fixed a few more things, including spike shadows (AKA "beam tractor shadows"), flares effects and deck parked static planes.

We hope you will enjoy this!

Another "lost" mission restored and back to life: it's "Flaming Dart" with the A-4E Skyraiders from CVA-19 Hancock, VA-212 Rampant Raiders!

Check out the overcast weather and the KA-3B "Whale" on the cat, alongside the player's aircraft.

A fast and easy mission if you don't get greedy and can land on a ship...
