wishing that you all had a nice Christmas, here are a few picture of the LAST mission we have restored for the upcoming Demo 3.
The title is "Clean Up" and takes place in December 22nd 1965. We are flying a beautiful North American RA-5C Vigilante from RVAH-7, doing a BDA flight over the Uong Be thermal generatol, which has just been bombed by the A-4E Skyhawks from VA-36.
Take off from an amazing the USS Enterprise CVAN-65, "The Big E" from this "launching first and recovering last" mission in which the keyword is "SPEED".
Many thanks for posting these - they all look great! Just a technical comment on the Wild Weasel mission, though. If the Fan Song is destroyed or disabled, the battery can't fire any guided missiles until such time as it is replaced or repaired. So while it is a nice extra to take out the missiles and launchers also, the F-105s on the strike won't be hit if there is no Fan Song. Correct?
here's a real novelty for us all, a brand new feature introduced by this YAP Revamp Works Team.
Our Friend and Member Devin Horner , film-maker and historian, made for us the first video tutorial for the first YAP-RW Training Mission, the classic "Gunnery at Gila Bend".
The video is intense and explanatory and will teach all the basic procedures and tricks to fully enjoy the game, with a deep technical description in the commentary.
It would be extremely useful for new players, but also for anyone who wants to improve his flying and combat skills in order to get ready for further extremely dangerous missions.
Devin Horner has made and excellent work: we all thank you for your efforts and competence.
We hope you are all well and you had a great beginning of the New Year! While we are waiting your impressions about the Demo 3, with the help of Diego Fabuel Garcia we are testing some new features for the next missions to be restored.
One of the first sorties in 1966 is "Hobo 51", the incredible story of the extremely dangerous rescue performed my MOH Major Bernie Fisher who landed right in the middle of the hell of a battle to give a ride to the downed comrade and friend Major Wayne "Jump" Myers.
Here are a few screenshots in which you can see new weapons, new effects and new weather.
here's a few picture of what we can call a "tribute". What would be the Vietnam air war without the Colonel Robin Old's "trademark moustache"?
So, we decided to take the classic "Operation Bolo" Thirdwire stock mission and give it some extra features in YAP's style. And a proper briefing, of course.
This mission will be availabe as a bonus mission in the upcoming new release: not a "Demo4" but what we can already call the "definitive version" of the first part of our revamping project.
We hope you will like the pictures!
PS: any further usermade, historical, custom mission will be really appreciated! If anyone would like to make a new one we will very happy to include it in the package.
here a few picture of another YAP restored mission: "Silver Lining" from SET10, dated April 29 1975.
This was meant to be the last of all missions, but we decided to move it in the "bonus" category, because the pilot was not American, but belonging to another operator: in this case the VNAF or South Vietnamese Air Force.
The pilot was Major Bung-Ly and he and his family, wife and and five children, jumped into a two-seats Cessna O-1 Bird Dog to escape from their home as it was overrun by communist forces, at the end of the war.
After a short flight over the South China Sea, they managed to land safely on the USS Midway whose helicopters, used to evacuate Saigon, where ordered to be thrown outboard by the Rear Adm. Lawrence Chambers, in order to give space to the tiny aircraft.
We hope you like the pictures. In these screenshots you can see the beautiful O-1E model made by Giuseppe Valfrè and the brand new VNAF skin made by Karel Rodriguez.
Here are a few pictures of an "old" helo mission, "Hover Cover" with the new terrain and also with two new ground objects: the M48A3 Patton tank and the M163 Vulcan air defense system, both by MAurizio Olmi (model) and Karel Rodriguez (skins).
We hope you will enjoy the pictures!

here another YAP story told by some pictures from the game. The day is January 28th 1970 and this time we are flying a MiG-21PFM from the VPAF.
The title of the mission is "Jolly 71 Killed" and yes, the player and his wingman have to shoot down two HH-53s Super Jolly Green Giant from a rescue force sent to pick up the crew of Seabird 02, an F-105G downed near the Mu Gia Pass.
Sometimes, as you know, YAP gives the player the interesting opportunity to look at the war from the perspective of the other fighting forces of the war.
We hope you like the pictures!

another YAP mission brought to a new life with the great graphics improvements of SF2 engine.
This is "Air America" and well, it's just like the movies. The task is to take off from Lima 20 base in Laoes deliver a couple of those "ACME" boxes to Lima 20 and Vientiane outposts before landing at the famous Long Chieng airstrip, better known as "The Alternate".
Look at the amazing Air America PC-6B Pilatus Porter and its hawayan shirted pilots, the Bell 204 and the C-47 Skytrain parked at Vientiane.
It's a long, safe ferry over the mountains, but you have plenty of time, so take it easy and enjoy the landscape.
We hope you will like the pictures!

here's another interesting mission restored for our joy. Before talking about it, let us announce that the new, definitive version of the first of three phases is short from its release, so just hold on a little bit again.
We also have plans to open a dedicated homepage to host this project, further information will be available very soon.
The mission these picture are taken from is "Air Commando", and tooks place on October 5 1962. It's the sendon of two TOP SECRET sorties of the operation Farm Gate, with this amazing Douglas A-26B Invader from the 1st Air Commando, armed to the teeth to attack at dusk some guerrilla forces near the Mekong Delta, in South Vietnam.
here are a few shots from "Fall of Saigon", probably the most iconic mission of the whole Yankee Air Pirate project.
We'll leave the commentary to the pictures and briefing. The last picture is taken from a post dated back to January 17th 2012, written by John Shelton on SimHQ YAP forum:

we hope you are all fine and safe! Here are a few pictures of another "classic" stock TW mission we re-edited in YAP style to offer some quick action to the game.
In fact this mission, "Going Downtown" has a LOT of action and a LOT of planes! You will see more than 40 aircrafts fighting above the city of Hanoy including F-105D Thunderchiefs, F-4D Phantoms II and MiG-17s, in a stunning air battle agains enemies, flak and SAMS.
The players's squadron task is to bomb and damage the Long Bien Bridge, better known as "Paul Doumer Bridge". The other Thuds will take care of the AAA while the Rhinos wil run after the MiGs. Then all should try to go home safe.
Special thanks to Devin Horner for the briefing revision and historical research and to Diego Fabuel Garcia for the MiGs camouflaged skin random generator, weapons and effects.
We hope you will like the pictures and Happy Easter!
The YAP-RW Team.
PS: as you can see we decided to put the F-105D the old TW stock cockpit instead of the YAP custom one, we used for the TDY model.
here are a few pictures of a novelty introduced by YAP-RW, the RB-57F Canberra in an extremely detailed version made by the good old Boys of ID(io)T Team: MAurizio Olmi, Alessandro Caronelli, Alex Soukos and C5.
We have no historical missions for this beauty at the moment, but you will have a nice ride on it up to 50.000 feet and see the horizon and even the curvature of the Earth, thanks to the magnificent environmental mod by Menrva.
here something we hope you might like: a brand new YAP mission with some brand new aircrafts and scenery.
With this mission we are reconstructing what happened on September 20th 1965, when an USAF F-104C Starfighter was downed by PLANAF Shenyang J-6s after crossing the chinese border over the Hainan Island, while escorting an RC-121D Warning Star.
We hope you will like the pictures and be aware... we have in program to make also the Chinese counter version...
no "in combat" screenshots this time... Here are a few pictures of some of the new iconic ground objects and vehicles from Vietnam Era developed by MAurizio Olmi for YAP-RW project:
- CH-47 Chinook parked - M56 Scorpion - SPG (self propelled gun) - M67 Zippo - medium flamethrower tank - M107 pit - heavy SPG (self propelled gun) - M114A1 - command and reconnaissance carrier - M551 Sheridan - armored assault vehicle - Ford M151 MUTT (military utility tactical truck)
All skins made by the talent of Karel Rodriguez.
All those vehicles, and many others, are already part of the new upcoming definitive releaese.
We hope you will like the pictures and stay tuned for some more news...
