Hello everybody. I just started a career in Jasta 11, october 1916, before it became anything worth. Time 1 week, and we switched from Fokker EIIIs and EIVs directly to Halberstadt DIIIs which appear to not have any skins though. Is it a problem with my install? Anyways, when I checked the skins, I see that there are plenty of Jasta 11 skins for the Halberstadt DII, and none for the DIII. Would it be possible to take the DII skins for the DIII by just renaming them? Or have I just missed the download for DIII skins? Thanks!

What version of WOFF do you have?

No, you can't swap the skins. They are completely different models with different mappings.

If you have any version other than Between Heaven and Hell II, you need to download the free skin pack.

@OP, if running WOFF UE/PE, recommended is to contact OBD since the standalone skin pack (+2 GB in size) is no longer available for separate download. It is included with BHAH.II but as far as I know skins in BHAH.II are not backwards-compatible with the skin folder in UE/PE. So make sure not to mix skins and skin folders between the different editions - since that may also result in skin folder anomalies when running WOFF of any recent vintage.

Cheers and happy skin folder sorting,

I have BHaHII. It just felt weird that we switched immediately to the DIII, skipping the DII which seems to have ALL the skins of the pilot from J11 at that time.

As far as I can tell, OBD has the DIII "Default Skin" locked, just like they had the Nieuport 23 Default Skin locked originally in UE.

Pol has to "unlock" the DIII in one of the BH&H2 encrypted files for the DIII to recognize any other skin to use (if it is locked like the Nieuport 23 skin was in the past).

Jasta 11 was a Halberstadt unit, until the arrival of MvR and the first Albatros D.III on 15 January. The Jasta started to receive more D.IIIs in the third week of January, but then Idflieg grounded the type on 27 January due to several wing failures. Jasta 11 reverted to the Halb until the wing problem on the Alb D.III was fixed. Ja11 was never equipped with the D.II

Thanks for the clarification Shredward. What made me doubtful is the fact that there are plenty of Halberstadt D.II skins for the Jasta 11 pilots! Might it be a renaming error, so that they're named D.II but should be D.III?

The Jasta flew both, and maybe even a DV or two. We mostly just don't know exactly who flew what

I should clarify - Ja11 had Halb DIIs and IIIs, and maybe even a DV or two, but not Albatros DIIs.

You know, I've started to notice something similar. There's a bit of a disconnect between the planes the squadrons get assigned and the created skins. It almost appears that some of the planes the the squadrons get "skipped". This might be historical (or even semi-random); but it means some of the skins don't get used.

For example, in mid-1917, RFC-40 is flying the NieuportN23_Lewis. In sept 1917, the N24's start arriving; but they are all the NieuportN24_bis_Lewis type. The problem is that the N24 skins for the RFC-40 in 1917 are all for the non-bis NieuportN24_Lewis, so there are no skins for the aces. A similar things happens with another RFC squadron (I can't remember which one) with the SE5a; but this might be on the 1917/1918 year transition. The squadron gets se5a_vipers (or the vipers sudden arrive enmasse in Jan), but the skins are all for the base se5a.

Seems like #18 in the 94th Squadron in 1918 gets duplicated many times in a flight or like five or six. I wondered why this happens when all of the skins for the whole Squadron appear to be included???

Yes but the clouds look so convincing you can almost feel the condensation and they seem to swirl beyond the screen. Amazing!

lol sorry Bob couldn't help it when I saw you'd obviously posted in the wrong thread. But I agree with your sentiments. Baggers engine is stunning!
