The movie really has no major weakness in my opinion. Some modern day viewers might say the film has a rather sanitized view of war but that applies to all war movies that were made before the mid 70's.
But versions available to view now have been somewhat edited to comply with perceived modern sensitivities. Some of the considered gory scenes have been inexpicably cut in versions shown here, the 111 gunner getting an eyeful of British lead for example, though mild when contrasted with later gore-fests. Also consider the scene in which the bailed-out Polish pilot is mistaken for a Hun, the line, " ‘Good afternoon’ my arse! You Boche barstard! Put your hands up! C’mon, put ‘em up!" has been overdubbed I believe.

[Re: BD-123]
Over the last month I watched the 2011 series "V" which was sort of a remake of the 80s miniseries and subsequent series.
** 1/2 out of four stars.
The writing was occasionally good, but often bad. This show deserved better, and the 80s version is better than every way. To make things worse the show was cancelled in the second season, which was much better than the first! I knew going in the series was either short or cancelled, so this is not reflected in my rating, but purely on the merits of direction, concepts and the writing. This is one of the weaker shows I have seen in a long time.
"V" from the 80s was one of my favorite sci-fi shows of the decade, so I had to see how this one was.

And whatever you do, don't mention the doorbell!!!!!!!!
I try not to, but I suffer from BoB Tourettes when flying online, with much spouting of "You could teach monkeys.....". "Undercarriage lever a bit sticky sir?" "Boomps-a-Daisy, it's enough to make you weep." "Spring chicken to #%&*$# hawk in one easy lesson; takka-takka-takka!" etc. Said quotes often addressed to myself for ham-fisted efforts.
Imagine my unbridled glee when a Polish squad member actually uttered the words 'repeat please' over TeamSpeak!

I loved the original V so much. Marc Singer was excellent. Wonder what happened to him, must look.

The original V miniseries has an excellent story and some very well written characters who you actually care for.
But let’s not mention the subsequent V series which came a year later. That was basically a night time soap opera.

Yeah I watched the first episode and lost interest totally. Watched the original again. Interestingly, I looked up Marc Singer and he was in the remake as another character.

You do realize NFB that the vast majority of questions you ask on SimHQ can be answered with a simple Google search right?

Ha! I noticed Wedge is in the cast for that show. So that's where he went after the second Death Star was destroyed?

Found this on Netflix. First season was 2017. 5th season this September and December. Did not know about this. It looks AMAZING! I have 41 episodes to watch before September.
Finally I can watch this. Mom wouldn't let us watch it when it was on TV. She said the girls were bad and slutty. Without this show, there would never be a Kim Kardashian.
