Robby Steinhardt, original violinist (1973-82 and 1997-2006) and sometime vocalist for Kansas, died July 17 of acute pancreatitis. A classically-trained violinist who didn’t join an orchestra because he didn’t want to live the ascetic lifestyle, he gave Kansas a sound nobody could emulate. RIP Robby, and thanks for what you gave to untold millions of fans.
I’ve included what are probably my 10 favorite songs on which Robby played, in chronological order.

Until 2017 when I was preparing to see Kansas in concert, I had no idea (or didn't remember) what they looked like. Except for this guy (although no longer with the band) who was the recognizable face of the band in their heyday. RIP.

Yeah, that Roseann Rosannadanna hair was very recognizable. Kerry Livgren looking almost as albino as Edgar Winter was memorable as well. Richard Williams’ eye patch, too, but I can’t remember when he started wearing instead of the glass eye.

Brad Delp liked that hairstyle too.

Including Kansas and all the other 'oldies' artists with crazy hair (like Boston's original drummer Sid Hashian )...
I've said it numerous times, that if I had to choose a single decade of music it would have to be 70's. I'd sure miss some 80's, especially early-80's, but I wouldn't hesitate to ditch it for only 70's.

Freaking tragic how he died.

Maybe it’s an Armenian thing, I went to high school with a guy named Tevanian who had a ‘fro that easily extended 4” from his scalp. This would have been 82-83.
