Since we don´t have a dedicated CRPG thread and most new CRPG´s are also RTS now, I thought I would add a thread here for any related CRPG, ARPG etc. content.
Will start with some help and guidence...
-- Overviews/Reviews etc.
To be continued...
Win10 Pro(x64), i7 8700k @ 4.7Ghz, 32GB ram DDR4, Sapphire Pulse AMD RX 6700 12GB, M.2 PCIe NVMe (x2) 480GB + 960GB, 447GB SSD´s, Samsung G6 32" , Logitech G13, G502, Warthog HOTAS, CH Pedals, Simagic Alpha Mini, and Formula Extreme FX, DC Simracing DC1 pedals, GT Omega ART cockpit, TrackIR 5.0. AUDIO: Aiyima A07 Max, Topping E50 and L50 stack, Polk Audio Signature Elite ES20 , and Shennheiser HD 560s. DAP: Hiby R3, Hiby Seeds, and iBasso IT01, Sharp MD-MT 80H Minidisc.
I can highly recommend them all aside from Tyranny, which I didn't get on with for whatever reason. I've started it twice but it failed to grab me even though most say it's a really good game. Of those, DoS2 is my favorite, and actually I think it's the best game of this type. Looking forward to BG3, but I am avoiding EA. I'll play it on full release.

Thanks DBond.
BG2 was the first game, of all games I played that I actually finished back then. I really enjoyed it and have very fond memories, so I guess Iam a fan of the genre. But CRPG´s sort of died in the late 90´s early 2000 untill PoE came around in 2015. I did play PoE but for some reason that I can´t remember now, I didn´t finish it, I think I got stuck somewhere.
I have the 5 you mention above although I haven´t played them all yet. Solasta has caught my Interest again for the genre and I must say Iam have fun again with a CRPG. The story isn´t great, but the combat is. I had to repeat a battle like 6 times last night, it was the first real mission ingame and I must say it was fun and challenging. I also bought BG3 yesterday, but I´ll leave that one on hold for now.
I don´t know if it has to do with age, but I understand CRPG´s alot better now then some years ago! Although I give credit to the older storytelling found in BG, BG2, Planetscape vs the newer games of today, but I still have to play the rest though so that might change.
One thing though that I really like about the genre, most of these games are long and unforgetable

Yes, PoE and DOS really breathed new life in to the genre. They were much like we remember, but with modern touches and quality of life improvements. I think we all sort of took a break over the years you cite, as there wasn't anything worthy coming out. But then those two games hit the market and I was all over them. I've played through DOS and DOS 2 probably 8 times now combined, and no other CRPG comes anywhere close. usually not more than once.
Partly it's due to the 'definitive editions' which caused me to play again just to see what had changed. And partly it's due to the fact I really like those games. DOS/2 has my favorite combat in this sort of game, plus everything else was top-shelf too. Writing, graphics, story, mechanics, character building and all the rest are so nicely done.
I really enjoy this move in to classless character builds that more and more games are going with. It's no longer a choice between Paladin, Fighter and Mage you know? The build complexity and options for doing exactly what you envision has never been better. The player is free to experiment and do whatever he can conjure up and I think this is a great trend.

I own this game. Very challenging! This is more of a rogue like RPG dungeon crawler. Now this is in EA but belive me you will die alot so don´t get obsessed with the end game for now haha!

That's another game which has been on the wishlist forever. But I haven't pulled the trigger, even though it's been on sale regularly. You've played it Red?
Based on the strength of the reviews and comments it seems to be a really good game. I think I'd like it. And it's odd that I haven't given it a go, but something must be holding me back.
I didn't know it wasn't voiced, or fully so, and I imagine that makes it even better. There was another RPG I played that got a post-release voiced update. Was it PoE? I can't remember, but whichever game it was the update was a nice improvement.

Hi DBond, no I haven´t. As you, It´s been on my wishlist for more then a year now, and as you stated, It´s been on sale on occasion, not many though at least on GOG. I know you want it too so basically I posted to see if we can convince each other to buy it this time around
