Just a quick question regarding your workshop settings for enemy action. I am currently in Jasta 5 October 1916 flying from Gonnelieu. I am not seeing much in the way of action after nineteen missions I have only actually engaged the enemy 3 or 4 times. My workshop settings are thus:

Regional Air Activity; Heavy
Forced Encounters; High
Campaign Mission Frequency; Historical

I do understand that war is 90% boredom 10% change your underpants time. explode Should I be having more encounters in your opinions?

Another quickie why does my flight always seem to burn a quarter of it's fuel just forming up ?

Regards.

It may've been a quiet time historically in that location Fube? I have same settings except medium air activity. As for forming up, I agree that getting to the action/front a little quicker would be nice. There does seem to be unnecessary circling at times heading out and perhaps remaining too high when approaching your home field coming back.

Thanks for the input catch, when I look at the main campaign screen I see Jasta 5 'Frequency of Operations' is marked as 'High (Local Battle Support), in your opinion do you think this may be the reason? Strange thing is almost every time both Jasta 5's Schwarms are employed on the same mission, Schwarm Eins almost always seems to see action! Is it possible to change which Schwarm I am in?

Not sure what my regional air activity is set to; probably somewhere in the medium range. And I've got forced encounters set to low/medium (middle option, whatever that is). I'd say I see enemy aircraft about 60-75% of the time, though it's often the ba*tards already dropping bombs on my airfield from 10,000 feet as I'm taking off with my flight and there's no chance of catching them. I'm flying Jasta 2, currently early December, 1916.

I agree with the long climbout times...seems like a waste of fuel. Normally I'll get to around 1500 meters, more or less, and then advance the waypoint. In UE/PE you can do it as soon as the leader goes from forming up to climbing. But in BH&H II he tends to hug the ground for an inordinate amount of time if you do, thus the wait. Another trick is to set your circle up waypoint as close to your airfield as possible in the mission brief. A word of caution, however...both of these will cause separation from the covering flight, if there is one.

SALUTE TO ALL!

@vonBaur

I have tried dragging way points but they don't seem to respond, what is the method mate? I'm talking campaign here.

Fube, once your flight starts to circle up after takeoff, hit “shift W” simultaneously and you will be off to your next waypoint.

At the bottom center of the mission briefing map, just to the right of the zoom buttons, is a window that by default says (I believe) "Circle up waypoint". It also has a drop-down arrow which will make the various other waypoints available. Above it are up, down, left, and right buttons. They're pretty self-explanatory wink . Modifying waypoints is a great way to eliminate going miles out of your way. *edit*I also like to put the circle up point near my home field, just in case of engine failure.

After that, what MFair said. But you can't advance the waypoint until after you've formed up. Be careful with that, though. I've had it double up on me. Not normally a problem, but if your mission involves orbiting a single point you can accidentally skip right past it and go straight to RTB. THAT'S an embarrassingly short flight. banghead

Bear in mind, both of these only affect your flight, nothing else. Meaning it may cause you to miss an enemy flight you might otherwise have bumped into. On the other hand, it could put you on a collision course with a bunch of fat, juicy two-seaters you might not have gotten a sniff of had you stuck with the gameplan. A real "Lady or the Tiger" situation.

Thanks mate, that fixed things an awful lot salute

Form up time is still crazy but first time of trying moving waypoints I saved 15% of my fuel cheers

@Wodin

Yes, and thanks, but am trying to build some history around my pilot wink

@MFair

Thanks for the tip mate, also a big helper (used cautiously wink )

Fube, you definitely need to look into Jara’s Wonderful Mission Editor. (He should really add “Wonderful” to his mod’s name)
You can pretty much do anything there. Add, delete waypoints. Change waypoint heights. You can make, for example, that first waypoint low, say 600 m so that the flight goes straight to the next point after reaching the first one (provided everyone formed up). You can lower the last waypoints so it doesn’t take that long to come down to land. You can delete that waypoint that makes you go up to 3000 m before coming down again to 1000 m for your balloon busting, or airfield attacks. You can also make Flight A to fly exactly the same path as Flight B instead of flying off somewhere who knows where. You can even change actions at each waypoint so that the other flight attacks that airfield along with you, instead of circling uselessly high above, pretending they’re there to protect you. So many possibilities.

Fubat,
It most certainly can. It’s been designed with the campaign in mind. There are plenty of features there that can only be used while campaigning. Take a look at the readme file included with it for all the goodies contained within.

Have you tried Sandbagger’s mod page HERE ?
Each mod should have a readme file attached to it prepared by our illustrious member Robert Wiggins.
