There was a beat up one still being daily ridden in my area, which may have been restored in recent years.

It could even be the same one that belonged to my grandfather, although I think it would be difficult to find out at this point.

When I did my 20,000km/12,000mi 6 week cross country trip in 2000, the first few days were sort of uncomfortable being in the saddle for 3-400mi. As the trip progressed it became much better. The longest distance travelled in one day was from south of Winnipeg to Calgary, about 800 mi. The bike was a brand new H-D FXST. Unless absolutely necessary, all riding was on 2 lane roads.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Great vids all around!

And, just for the record - this 2016 Ural Retro that I've had since new has been pretty reliable. It's old-school tech, with some modern conveniences (EFI, disk brakes, as well as an electric starter)

In the same vein as the Harley vid above - I also have a video to present:

Gets super epic around 4:50.

That was an excellent video!

There is another Soviet R71 derivative called the Dnepr, made in Ukraine.

They have a website but I don't know if they're actually still in production?

Whatever the case, these should be cheaper than Ural and are supposedly somewhat better overall.

The packed frame of the bike in the image at the top of the thread puts me in mind of the pressed tinplate toys of the 1950's.

Dnepr stopped making bikes some time ago.

I sent them an email to see if that's the case.

I've seen it mentioned where they are still, or once again, in low rate production, possibly out of leftover parts, while their new factory is supposedly brought on line.

Speaking of Urals, some might enjoy this
