Yeah, it's amazing. This is only my second playthrough and I'm much more proficient this time around. It finally "clicked". Before I was heavily armored and slow, now I'm naked and fast, less panicky, and more reserved and patient. I just didn't understand the game mechanics the first time and didn't grasp how to fight. It isn't about ending fights as quickly as possible, it's using everything to your advantage and timing your enemy's moves. I also forced myself to stop locking onto enemies and have so much more freedom to move around. I'm breezing through parts I used to struggle with, but only through using skill I didn't have before. Get lazy and it's back to getting punished. I now completely understand what people have been saying about the game... when you get it, you get it. It's a whole other experience being decent at it. I may use estus only once or twice per level now, where before I was running out.
I've returned to Batman Arkham Knight on PS4 and have finally gotten farther along. This third entry more than the others(never finished Origins, only Asylum and City)seems to have made the combat even faster. That and the enormous unlockable move set makes it overwhelming to me. I just can't remember all these maneuvers while in chaotic combat. Its a cool game though and I'm like the story and what they are doing with the Joker.
I finished The Last Guardian finally and it overall was a great game. It runs terribly to almost unplayable at times but its one of the few games that's worth the trouble. Its got an amazing companion character that is very life-like and a minimal storytelling style and world and physics engine that's great. This game however probably has the absolute worst camera system that I've ever seen. It literally fights you 99% of the time and that combined with the bad frame rates makes for some very frustrating situations.
I'm also still playing Ghost of Tsushima and its an excellent game. Very good. I completed the first act just today and now the other half of the island has opened up. It has excellent combat that is just diverse and challenging enough for my liking with lots of fighting options and stances. This is also one of the few open world rpg-like games that thus far, has consistently well written, hand crafted missions, specifically side quests. Every single side quest I have played has its own uniqueness about it and narrative. Its unique story or character and location either help build the world and lore or serves the main story in some way. It doesn't feel like some waste of time filler that doesn't reward you in any way like some many other open world games. I can't express enough how well these folks did with the writing and design in this game. It still has some things that could be better but overall its very well done.
I hope to start A Plague Tale: Innocence soon which looks very good.

For a few months I've bounced around starting and stopping games without finishing. Now waiting for the new Fallout NV DLC -- Fallout The Frontier -- to release on Steam.
While waiting, put 40+ additional hours into Fallout NV (already had over 300hrs on Steam and probably twice that in total). Most of that 40hrs has been revising, adding to, and testing my homemade mods in anticipation of FOTF.

Was there any reason mentioned for this?

[FONV The Frontier removal] Due to one dev allegedly posting "animated pedophillic content"
"We will be making changes to the Frontier going forward to remove inappropriate lines and content. This will be our final build." It's not yet known exactly what content will be removed - nor is it clear that ZuTheSkunk had anything to do with the creation of said content. Ugh.
Removal of FONV The Frontier seems to have a couple reasons including misbehavior by one of the many volunteer developers and some bad reviews. They are apparently modding their mod to remove some of the criticized content.

YIKES. Just one of the many pitfalls that can occur from volunteer and unsupervised mods.

FWIW: Fallout NV The Frontier mod situation -- as of an hour ago. Returned to the FONV Nexus, not yet on Steam.

Fallout mod The Frontier returns after stripping out content from disgraced artist
Several other contributors also requested their work be removed.
The Frontier's public Steam release has been pushed back (it has a page on there, but is currently de-listed), and the removed icons currently have placeholder 'vanilla' art while the team looks for a proper replacement.
It's hard not to feel for Tgspy and the rest of the Frontier modding team: this is an extremely ambitious collaborative mod that represents years of work, and has now been tainted by the dreadful productions of one contributor.
Just finished Mafia The Definitive Edition. I really enjoyed it. I tried the original back in the day, but the driving mechanics were just awful. My son bought me the trilogy. I have played the 3rd on PS4, it was alright, I liked the 60's setting.
I am 90% a VR gamer now. Raceroom, Dirt, VTOL, Thrill of the Fight, Onward, Into the Radius, early builds of Low-Fi, IL-2 Stalingrad/Bodenplatte, Boneworks, lots of other stuff. Non-VR games...mostly retro DOS stuff like SEAL Team - still sublime for what it attempts and when it attempted it - GNBNA, Sword of the Samurai, and a few others. I also occasionally fire up certain non-VR Windows games that either have no VR equivalent, or work well enough on flat screen. No driving sims or flight sims, and very few FPS games make the cut, though. ArmA2 or Iron Front on occasion with my own company/battalion level command scenarios, maybe Elite Warriors: Vietnam with my own mods and tweaks.

Played "Grim Dawn" end-to-end yet again -- over a period of weeks. I started fresh and couldn't stop. It grabs my attention.
During the weeks I mixed in some MSFS2020 -- a different thing entirely.
Tried "Baldur's Gate 3" Early Access a few hours yesterday. First time since last November. Game has an immersion breaking (for me) key flaw -- at key moments it rolls dice (or equal) in the middle of the screen. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 used D&D rules but did not put "Dice literally in Your Face" -- calculations were all off screen like most RPG. I don't like it. They are emphasizing that part of the gameplay. I may not play this one when it releases in 2022. See attachment.
"Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition" (contains ME1, ME2, ME3) may be next. But, maybe not -- less gaming in Summer -- outdoor activities, etc take up time.

Is there no option to disable that?

No! In fact, they emphasize that aspect of the game as being a good thing. Not all agree -- but, many do.
The stated purpose of the BG3 "Early Access" release is to get "player feedback". Today, I submitted an "official suggestion" via their "Suggestions" page. I submitted a verbose list of reasons to "let the player decide" via a "Visible D&D Dice Roll" On/Off Switch.

I don’t have the patience to play a tabletop RPG and besides, that requires the physical presence of other players.

As far as current games, I've really been enjoying the new and improved Total War: Rome Remastered. I highly recommend it to anyone who played the original version.

So I was eagerly waiting on the release of the Mi-24p Hind in DCS so I could sink some time into a new aircraft, but then PMDG unexpectedly went & released their excellent DC-6 aircraft for MSFS. Big old 4-engine prop aircraft are just my thing, so I'm spending lots of time in that.
Really really great flight sim experiences with this, I recently made a new PC so performance is pretty good. Yesterday I flew a 2hr flight from Prague to Sion in Switzerland, weather was cloudy on takeoff, I flew through a very entertaining storm bank across Germany then into better but still cloudy weather into Switzerland. The airfield at Sion is nuts, quite difficult to get to in a DC-6 and the runway orientation is rather odd, pointing at the side of a mountain.
I enjoyed the feeling of bursting out of a cloudbank and realising I'm in a mountain range with peaks all around higher then me I was trying to be as low as possible for the descent into Sion (DC-6 doesn't like to do anything at any fast pace).
Hugely enjoyable, and exactly the kind of experience I was hoping for with recent purchases. Poor old Hind got shelved for now though.
