My dog had a traumatic day, no doubt about it. I spent a lot of time telling him he is a good boy and nothing will hurt him.

He wasn't convinced.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Yes, some of my dogs in the past were not fans of fireworks. Like you said, just comfort them. Fireworks 4 nights straight up here in my neighborhood. Canada Day was the 1st of July, plus 4th of July. Why people feel the need to fire them of on the 2nd and 3rd...I have no idea.

I live beside a military base, and every once in a while there are explosions that shake the ground. Not exactly sure what they are doing. Disposing of old ammo or some kind of training.

I live in Alabama; therefore there are simply more fireworks the first week of July than on any other given time of the year.

Having friends over? Pull out some fireworks, even if it's just some bottle rockets.

Realize that you have bottle rockets left over, along with some fire crackers and other stuff? Heck, it's Tuesday! Let's light them off!

Maybe it's part of aging but I haven't cared for fireworks for ANY occasion for at least 10 years now.

Our neighbors were shooting off fireworks this weekend. Later that night their house caught on fire and was totally destroyed. Everyone got out but the father saw his house burn down had a heart attack and died. The wife lost her husband, home, all their vehicles and half their pets (it was a small zoo) in a few hours. I had to drive the family to the hospital and wait with them since they had no other transportation. It was a horrible weekend. They are in their late 60's. Not sure if she will rebuild a new house there.

The road less traveled is filled with fewer needy people.

My oldest cat is 18 years old and deaf as a post, she had a peaceful weekend. The others weren’t exactly scared, but definitely on edge.

That's the way it was for me in Alaska. And many plastic models met their demise from left over firecrackers...

24 year old NHL goalie was killed from taking a firework to the chest. Tragic.

Fireworks are oldy time entertainment. Like the circus or fair that comes once a year. Pre internet fun.

Dad and the Cocker Spaniel would sit out on the veranda during thunders storms. Fire works didn't phase her.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Happened at the house of former NHL / Detroit Red Wing goalie Manny Legace. Many players from other countries stay at former NHL'ers houses while they are playing or training with a nearby team. Terrible tragedy. So for no criminal charges yet, but I'm sure a hefty civil suite against Mr. Legacy is coming from the young mans family.

The fireworks by my house were heavier than ever. A few times I thought my windows were going to blow out. It was way too much for a crowded subdivision street like mine. I have never had a problem with fireworks celebrations (escpecially on July 4th) but it seems every year I see more and more stupidity when it comes to using them.

They described it as a mortar style of firework. I suppose somebody has to be liable.
